Retractable cargo covers in a 94 Loyale
Flowmastered87GL replied to oz81dog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I got a blue AND a brown one. They fit 85-89 for sure... but should fit a 90-94 as well. Good news... I am in portland and I will take any reasonable offer on the part (likely $20-40 range) Bad news... the blue one needs to be "rewound" so it retracts properly. There is a writeup on how to do it somewhere, but I couldnt find it. e-mail me at mrinck@hotmail.com or PM me if you want more details. -
Sweet.. .makes me miss living in the gorge. (I grew up in The Dalles.... lots of light off roading areas there... these look more fun though) I need to get another sube that I can take off the pavement

portland P.A.P.. for those needing stuff
Flowmastered87GL replied to rllywgn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think that all loyales with auto seatbelts had the high console. The motor to control the belts is under there I think. I think that the GL high console is the rare one... as in manual seatbelts and the console is actually all STOREAGE! Not tiny storage and a big motor :-\ -
can you sleep in the back of brat?

Edrach had slept in the back of his brat with a canopy I know... but I kinda woke him up once -
I finally Own A Real Subaru!!
Flowmastered87GL replied to xoomer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If the light is coming on its also possible that.... you may have the analog sender for the light. I once had an RX engine in my 86 GL-10 turbowagon and I plugged it into the sender for the guage. That sender caused the light to come on. I bought the proper sender and the light turned off. -
My subaru teaser movie.

Ok guys, who owns this?
Flowmastered87GL replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Maybe... but I saw it on the corner of 102nd and stark about 2-3 weeks ago. (at work) Its ghetto, but, eh it works. -
Hmmm on an EA82 with a DFEV you shouldnt have to extend the throttle cable.... you can pretty much use the stock cable... if I recall on mine I had to fab a new mount and weld up a cool linkage... but the cable was stock. I would like to see pics if possible... its always neat to see how everyone does it... I swear every EA82 comes out slightly different. I guess there is a trade off... either a mount and some welding is needed, or a new cable. Or alot of creativity.

Sweet! Looks really good. Time for a skidplate though... that oil pan looks kinda at risk. -
Brat charging problem
Flowmastered87GL replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
my green lifted 82 brat had issues with the fuel guage and voltmeter... even when all was well it could show too low or too high. I tried cleaning up grounds and getting new stuff... still did it. I just learned to live with it. As long as the little red light for volts isnt on I figured it was good (the light was on when I bought it, but it still made the 80 mile drive home) -
How Many Miles (EA82)?
Flowmastered87GL replied to TJeep_1999's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had 321K on my tranny in my 87 GL (5 speed dual range manual) Ran it hard (pizza delivery and rallycross), but I kept clean fluid in it so when I parted the car out I was able to get $50 for it -
Note the new gen center console and shifter surround... I think its Legacy gear.. hard to tell... I'll have to peek at my Baja.
-
You actually now have the CORRECT hood on the car now anyway (you have a 96 right?) My mom has one too and its scoopless... though it has the indents in the insulation for them. Has a different grille though... yours looks like a 95 ish grille. 96 should be: ||__\\@//__|| (@ = subaru logo) Hmmmmm rally car..... ive got an idea in my head of what it may be.... but I wont guess and spoil your fun (and I might be wrong anyway )

Is the new one gonna have the roof of boom too?

I bought an XT6 setup from a guy here in town a while ago and WAS going to install it on my wagon, but I decided to sell it intead. Basically you need a button of some sort to make it squirt, the hoses and nozzels, the fresh tank and its pumps. Its a dual pump tank that fits in the fender on EA82's Fits perfect in place of the normal tank that just washes the windshield. The guy that I bought it from had modified the buttons on the left side of the guage cluster (where the rear defrost button is) to include a squirter button over there too (among other cool things) So yes its been retrofitted. Find an XT6 and grab away

YES!!! Its all cool

Looking for a Switch
Flowmastered87GL replied to SyntheticBlinkerFluid's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I believe that the fog light button goes on the left side of teh steering column in the little blank over there (under the idiot lights) I once test drove an RX which had fog AND driving lights... maybe factory... they sure looked stock.... had one switch there in the blank and then another one turned sideways slightly to the right of that. But yes that looks like the right switch. -
Having had an 86 and an 87 GL-10.... the 86 had the orange dash... pretty cool when it worked. Animated turbo indicator, MPH/KPH conversion button, digital everything. The 87 was nicer in my opinion even though I am pretty darn sure it lacked the conversion button and the turbo was just a green light... the tach was a bunch of bars that would light up as you revved... much easier to read, harder to hit the warning buzzer I personally doubt you could change the color, but someone with enough electronics knowledge could probably find a way. The older oranges dashes while cool, were VERY hard to read in the light and often malfunctioned. The 87+ ones I have never had an issue with. But to answer your question... I am 85% sure that the newer style dashes dont have a conversion button.
