  1. It looks really clean, though it looks like they need to finish the engine bay clean up from the weber install. Nice that it comes with a GL-10 coupe... those are getting pretty rare and valuable too. I would not be surprised to see it go for the full $8000.
  2. The black grille looks good as does the yellow wing. Truly one of a kind now.
  3. A long shoelace or something may be nice to have too. For example if the throttle cable breaks you could tie it to the linkage and fish it up the window and pull on it to limp the car off the road. (when mine broke in my GL I just used a screwdriver and advanced the idle as high as it would go)
  4. The first question I have is have you had your alignment checked??
  5. I saw one on the corner at Carr Subaru while driving past. (so maybe 10-15 feet away) It looked good.
  6. I don't want to give up my Baja... but I am still jealous of your yellow XV.
  7. Looks really nice... is it dual range full time (high/low) or single range full time??
  8. My GL had 2.0 from the heads to the cat, 2.25 from the cat to the muffler and 2.5 from muffler to tip. Sounded loud, but not like a honda. Lost a tiny bit of bottom end from the larger pipes but not horrible.
  9. With a manual PART TIME 4WD (shifter in FWD) its fine. I have towed a turbowagon from Bellingham to Sammamish on a dolly. My old GL was pulled by many a tow truck with only the front off the ground.
  10. On my GL I had 1/4 inch thick soft clear rubberized plastic covers. They adhered directly to the glass. Never had a broken light the whole time I owned the car. (I got them from my dealer parts department, but that was back in 1997 or so) But you may be able to get a place that installs clearbra and similar stuff to custom cut you some if they offer headlight protectors.
  11. This is the first vehicle that I have seen wheels like this look good on! (you normally see them on some douchebags Tacoma or lifted F150 or something) I have a soft spot for 82's having owned two of them. Neither was this nice of course.
  12. I have a VHS (bought from Zap) of this floating around still... if you have a VCR I will send it to you if you pay postage since I can't watch it anymore with no VCR.
  13. If you stripped a hub the cause is often a loose axle nut (the washers have to go on a certain way to keep it right properly) At least that was the case on my 87.
  14. Common issue on the 2.5 liter which you should have is head gasket seepage. Some oil seepage is normal but once you start losing coolant you will want to change them.
  15. The easiest bolt in would be a 85-89 GL-10 seat. They are cushier than the GL seat and a direct bolt in.
  16. I'm kinda surprised SJR has not tried this.... he has cut up wagons before and shortened them and stuff... this is just going in the other direction.
  17. Get a rust free carcass from Washington or something.... swap all your trouble free mechanicals over to it. I would sooner do that than fight the rust.
  18. Not sure what intake you are using... but on an EA82 intake you need to grind down that small coolant pipe in the front of the intake and then fill the void with JB weld. Then on the hose that goes to it? Stick in a 1/4" diameter stud, slide it in a a little ways and clamp it down with a hose clamp (it makes a plug in the hose). If you just stick the gasket and adapter over that huge coolant hole you will of course have leaks.
  19. That red 3 door is definitely totaled as far as insurance would be concerned. Could you rebuild it yourself, yes. I would not worry about the dent in the body, its the rear suspension that would scare me.
  20. Wow rare.... my wife is from Argentina and tells me Subarus are quite rare there.
  21. At home all I think the average do it yourselfer would be able to do is do multiple drain and fills. Like drain all you can out, refill, drive for a while, drain it again and so on.
  22. I would also do the simple check of checking that the timing is correct. Specific in my mind is making sure each cam lines up with the dot either facing up or down (one each way) while the pointer on the flywheel is at the middle of the ||| mark.
  23. My neighbors had that Datsun Honey Bee in the 80's. I think Jesse James has one turned into a drift machine.
  24. Right around 1989. A 1990 Loyale should have the new logo. An 89 GL should have the old one. An early legacy with an 89 build date will have the new logo.
