Being in Canada... you will love it in winter. -
Any of these have airbags?
Flowmastered87GL replied to comatosellama's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think the earliest I have seen an airbag is a 1993 Impreza or a 1992 Legacy -

Superior Soobie and Import (on Mcloughlin) is good as is Superior Import Repair www.fixmysuby.com (on E Burnside and NE Sandy) -
I would imagine that you would be able to get one of the glow in the dark emergency pull cables from a newer model car trunk (maybe find a front end damaged Subaru in a junkyard and go to town on its trunklid) You could then hopefully find a way to attach the cable to the existing mechanism in the hatch, drill a small hole and have the small pull handle sticking out into the cargo area on the inside of the hatch.

Jump seats mounting frame
Flowmastered87GL replied to NEPASubaru's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I had to have one made for my Baja. All I could find was the seats, the frames are near impossible to find. I got mine made here: https://www.facebook.com/infernofab -
Refused a tune up estimate?
Flowmastered87GL replied to lilySapphire's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well it looks like you bought the general lee brat, so that puts you in Oregon or Washington probably.... in Portland 2 good places are: Superior Import Repair www.fixmysuby.com and Superior Subie and Import https://www.facebook.com/SuperiorSubieAndImport both are run by local USMB board members and I would send a friend to either one. Another decent place I would consider going is Mt Tech Subaru in Oregon City, though I have not used them personally. -
When I webered I made a steel block off plate for all the EGR stuff. Just use a scrap of steel, use the gasket as a template, cut out the shape, drill the holes and bolt it on. I was able to fab the parts on my coffee table in my dorm room that I lived in at the time.

I recognized you... eventually after you were standing there right next to me for a bit. So ya, its understandable. On the note of the show, its the most fun I have had at a WCSS in a while. Starting it out in a caravan always helps. -

I would think we will be in Tacoma around 12:00-12:30 assuming we don't get stuck in Ft. Lewis traffic. -
Subaru GL EGR light solution
Flowmastered87GL replied to ellevehc's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
"Leaving it disconnected is fine too.....I think like that it won't ever turn on again" Maybe that is why the EGR light never worked in my GL... -

I would expect the POR-15 stuff to last way better than the Harbor Freight stuff. I have used Herculiner myself in the past, but sold both brats that I used it on before I could really get a good long term report of how it lasted. Given my experience with previous harbor freight stuff I have bought.... get the POR-15 stuff. -

Yes, I would suggest trying to be self sufficient. There will be food vendors, but there will likely be a line, they will not be there 24/7 and they could even run out of food if its busy. You don't need a tent if you have a wagon and a small air mattress. Flashlight is a good idea as it may be a walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night. -
Glad someone on here got that BRAT. I saw it on Craigslist, but really don't have anywhere to keep it or work on it otherwise I would have called them the second I saw the ad. Nice that it has Cruise and AC. If it had Power Steering it would be awesome.

What is up with subaru? help please?
Flowmastered87GL replied to Jonni_Boi95's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There are several things to know about XT6's... one that I am aware of is this.... it uses a special "cybrid power steering fluid" Not just normal power steering fluid or ATF (most Subarus use ATF) Its a fairly rare car, not many left. Very low drag coefficient (even though its a big square wedge its somehow aerodynamic) -

If we hit Tacompton, I agree Krispy Kreme off 5 would be the best bet so we could go something like: I-5 North to 16 across the narrows (there shouldn't be a toll going this way), to 3 north to 104 and then we would have the choice of 19 or 101 to 20. -
New 79 DL sedan
Flowmastered87GL replied to Markus56's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I'd say its pretty rare nowadays... especially since its not rusted away given how rusty cars out in your parts seem to get. I think gen 1's over the last few years have officially become "vintage" and are gaining value pretty quick. -

Yes it is a bar just off of I-205 and Foster Road in SE Portland. In Lents neighborhood is correct.
