THe DR shifter is standard issue 1985. I looked at an 85 GL and it had it too. The 5 speed knob looks kinda like mine (WRX / Forester leather unit) -
The size pipe really depends on how you want your power curve to be... mine is pretty high up there compared to stock (but thats where I keep the engine so it works for me) I run 2.0 from the heads to the cat, 2.25 to the muffler (midpipe) and 2.5 out from the muffler. (all measurements in inner diameter)

Factory Foglights???How about rear gate lock.
Flowmastered87GL replied to Flow's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
From my vast collection of EA82 wagons I have found this... 86's had the switch on power lock equipped models 87-88 and my 92 loyale all worked off the drivers door. The odd thing is... (kinda unrelated) The door lock light on the dash would only light up on the 86 when the passenger door was unlocked. It would light up when ANY door was unlocked on my loyale. Not sure on the other ones, I never bothered to check. -
Digital to analog gauge change?
Flowmastered87GL replied to smotocon1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmmm trying to figure out what the extra wires may be for... The only thing I can think of that a digi has that an analog doesnt is the outside temp guage... -

One thing that has not been brought up... Some of the senders are different for different dashes. Example... the oil pressure sender. Its a little small thing that comes out the front of the pump on GL-10 digidash models. On GL analog models (and RX's) it is a big huge thing that comes down diagonally from the pump. I know this from experience. I bought the engine from Corky that came out of ultimate RX and of course it was setup for an analog system. Well it went into a digidash car. Needless to say the oil light came on the second we started the car because it got the wrong signal (it was trying to send to a guage and instead sent to a light) So... even if you get the guages to hook up by hacking wires... you will have the change the oil sender (and maybe something for the voltage too??) -
ANOTHER project car!
Flowmastered87GL replied to Flowmastered87GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ehhh the Impreza is at Richies shop and someone is looking at it. As of today its still available, but I hope it sells. I sold the Loyale to be able to get this one. But the Impreza really does need to go since I have the 87 and the BRAT still. -
Hooters for lunch
Flowmastered87GL replied to Dr. RX's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
my friend Vince and I got the 3 mile island hotwings there... the waitress was pretty good looking (not overly made up) The food was good, but my digestive system was paying for those wings for the next 2-3 days -
I picked up another one today... 1988 GL wagon, white paint (needs some washing, but its shiny under all that dirt I can tell) The interior is near perfect... The jack is siezed up I think (mine did that too), and it needs a left rear door power window switch (in blue) The tires are toast, I will look into getting new ones tomorrow. The car will NOT start... I put my brat battery in it and cranked for a bit and nothing... feels like the head gasket is REALLY out bad or the timing belt broke as the engine turns really effortlessly (and the lady said there is little compression in 2 cylinders) The car has some rare items... It still has its glove box key (never bought one that did), still has its ORIGINAL master and submaster key in decent shape (yes the master key with the light in it!!) It has the black wheel well moldings for the REAR wheel wells too (though they are in the cargo area so I can clean the body first before putting them back on. My 87 has em for the front, but the back ones have been long gone. Pictures will be up eventually... I need someone with a digicam to come up. And Jason, I will be coming by to grab my hoist and engine stand soon

I am swapping the doors on my 82 brat from silver units to mustard colored units because of rust issues on the silver doors (dont worry im gonna paint em to match the OD green brat body) I discovered today that the windows have NOT been swapped to brat units like previously thought. Therefore I need to use the glass (and lock cylinders too!) from the rusty doors. So therefore I ask... How do I swap the window glass? How do I swap the lock tumbler (I dont have a key to the mustard doors) Anyone done this before?

All outbacks were touring wagons... I believe that the touring roof came out before the outback... (so yes it should be possible for them just to be on a legacy L) Seeing a first year outback... very strange car (I think its a 1995...) It has legacy L height and normal bumpers with the tiny fog lights... kinda like a 2 tone L (not the big bumpers and raised suspension of the later years... 1999 is a good example)

Since she doesn't maintain cars... maybe you should install a big red light that will illuminate if the alternator starts freaking out... dont wanna fry a perfectly good digidash Hmmm what color have my cars been... 87 GL - Silver 86 GL - Maroon 86 GL-10 - Silver 87 GL-10 - Tan 91 Legacy - Blue 98 Impreza - Black 88 GL - Red 82 BRAT - Silver 92 Loyale - Silver 88 GL - White Hmmm I think silver wins.

Didnt go to tahoe, by the time we finally wanted to get out there it was time to go home, and I didnt want to drive any extra time (even with cruise control) The EJ22 was great... it didnt struggle much at 4000 feet. too bad its next on the chopping block of cars to sell (trying to unload it this week)

Dual range! Nothing is more reliable than a lever to engage the 4WD... I've had enough doubt with 4WD working or not with my 86 turbowagon (the light didnt work... sure the button was down, but I didnt trust that enough) The low range is excellent for descending hills in the snow. I ran in low range for hours/miles at a time delivering pizza with near bald street tires and the compression braking kept me in line (unlike how brakes would ... or wouldn't rather)
