I just got back from a 1200+ mile round trip to Reno NV. Took the Impreza which I purchased afew months ago and have been awaiting paperwork on (so I wasnt able to legally drive it) The paperwork is finally due soon so I broke down and bought a 21 day trip permit for it and insured it so I can use it temporarily while I rebuild my GL's engine. Wow, this car is SO nice... the passing power (who woulda thought you could accelerate from 55-95 so fast to pass an RV up at 4000 feet) I still got 31 MPG doing all that spirited highway driving too I definitely want to get a keeper EJ series car, this one just isnt it (auto tranny AND a sedan...) The seats suck too (I swapped in a legacy drivers seat from my brat for the drive down) I can now sell it with confidence that it is indeed a good car.

loyale RS: lsd or no lsd?
Flowmastered87GL replied to the sucker king's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmmm am I missing something here? I thought the RS was a non turbo loyale with an RX body kit... Is it really that the RS is just the 90+ bodykit clad car available as SPFI OR turbo??? :-\ -
I remember that pic, I was just too tired at the time to hunt it down. If you came by here though we would be one up on that (cause my brat is the same gen as austins wagon) and the Loyale would be an addition. It would be like WCSS5.5 If I called my brother and had him bring is 2002 WRX it would be even better.... 6 subarus!

Hmmm the bed is about the same as mine. THe firewall is WAY better The bed sides (outside) are worse. Still a good find (any brat is) Definitely could use a lift and bob
-
I just noticed, it still has a roll bar in the bed

Flowmastered87GL replied to s'ko's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Only one way it could be a holier grail... Have a black/red pimp interior (though those were only available on the 85-86 models... maybe only 85....) -

80's Japanese Domestic Subaru's... PICS!
Flowmastered87GL replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You are right, the raised roof is what makes it a touring wagon. I guess it just gives you more cargo/headroom in the back or something... -

Flowmastered87GL replied to heep70's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmmmm thats odd... it appears you have the carb normal (not backwards) but the choke is still in the back:confused: I have my choke in the back, but the throttle stuff is on the drivers side. -
mods for a 87 GL
Flowmastered87GL replied to blacklabel's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My 87 GL has: Weber 32/36 carb (turned backwards to clear the power steering) Full custom exhaust (2.0 to the cat, 2.25 to the muffler, 2.5 out) Accel coil Shorter shifter rod (same degree of throw, just a shorter radius may be the best way to describe it) Instructions on how I did my shifter can be seen on my homepage here: Errrr never mind, my webpage isnt working -

Help! I broke my Loyale already!
Flowmastered87GL replied to Flowmastered87GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I know I should know this.... but what holds the cap on? Its really tight in there with all the AC lines and stuff and I've never had to yank one before... 2 screws? or what am I looking for? -
Grrr stupid Loyale... I finished it yesterday (timing belts and water pump, wires, plugs) and it took its maiden voyage yesterday just fine. A little rough here and there (idle seemed a bit low here and there) Today went to to get its picture taken for autotrader. Drove wonderful until I tried to floor it off the line, I swear I heard a kind of pop or something so I let off the gas a bit and it cruised just fine the 2 blocks home. Just got home from work, tried to start it, it started up but died within a second. Now it wont start I have 2 people already e-mailing me about it and the printed ad comes out Thursday I need to get it back on the road! Any ideas? UPDATE: ---------- I looked at it today, the disty turned just fine. So I checked to make sure it didnt jump time, one cam up, one cam down and the flywheel on the middle of the 3 marks (correct) I tried changing the coil wire, no difference I changed the fuel filter. no difference. I looked for loose connections, but havnt found any loose wires. I am going to check the hoses on the back of the throttle body still. Next up is unhooking the fuel line right before the fuel "rail" and seeing if it spurts fuel when cranked. Then I will try disconnecting the coil to see if a spark jumps from the coil to the wire (errr maybe the other way around, dont want gas AND sparks)

Suday off-roading trip - damage pictures!
Flowmastered87GL replied to GeneralDisorder's topic in Off Road
Hmmm it wouldnt let me delete this post, so I will make it on topic... I need to get one of those skid plates for my brat, the old one is so tiny (and I broke one of the mounting holes for it) -
Hmmm do I need ANOTHER project?
Flowmastered87GL replied to Flowmastered87GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The other cars available are a FWD 3 dr (87?) and an 87 (with hitachi) wagon with a 3AT (4wd). Blown head gasket, but the guy says it runs and drives good. I offered $200 and he seemed kinda insulted, I think he wants more like 400 for it or something... -
It was a CA model (with O2 sensor and such), It had no cajones, but if you babied it, you could cruise nicely and still get good MPG
