Good thing my brat didnt get hit, I was driving it this morning (so the battery would stay healthy somewhat illegally) (not registered in my name yet and still not insured) I only take it on short neighborhood trips now though (yes I know accidents are more likely close to home. Try driving in Sellwood and Milwaukee and then tell me that though :madder: )

lowering driver's seat
Flowmastered87GL replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just install XT seats. I have a set in my GL and I sit like 2 inches lower than normal. You've sat in them Rick, they are a pretty good height yes?? -
Oregon Rally Group Rallyx meeting 11/19
Flowmastered87GL replied to edrach's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Hmmm theres an idea..... large 4WD class and small 4WD class. Do away with truck class. Let 2WD pickups run in group 2 against the 510's and such -

Hmmm the cars should be moved to Production if anything unless they are turboed. IF subarus get banned from the SUV clsss....My GL should be in Open cause of its mods, Brats really should remain... they have a truck bed AND a truck VIN, if you dont like they way they dominiate get a 4WD pickup and lower it to make it corner like a subaru :-) Stock non turbo subes should be production class (like the Justy already runs) Turbos like Marks RX should be PGT. I still dont know where I stand on this, but I do think EA series vehicles still have a place in truck/suv. At the VERY least the brat deserves the spot even if they bump us other owners back out. I prefer to think of my car as a 1987 Forester Just lower and with less power -
I like my way better.... pull EVERYTHING off the block other than the disty or power steering pump. Take everything off the intake. Paint it your flashy color of choice Reinstall naked intake with blockoff plates where stuff used to be and vac plugs on any unused hoses. Install weber carb Run vac line for Climate control switch, carb and disty. Thats ALL you need, just 3 vac lines on a webered simplified car. With a hitrashi... ehh you may need 1 more, the hitachi confused me :cornfuzz:

New shoes for the RX... again!

Is it faster or slower with the RS rims as compared to the 13in enkeis?? I know its faster than the 18's, those were ginormous (gigantic + enormous) Looks good, when you gonna bring it down for a rallycross? -

huh does that mean we are getting the boot from truck class??? :cornfuzz: I need to talk to Ed about this... I was going to call him tonight and fell asleep and just got back up, but figured 11:45 was too late to call -
EJ22TT motor in a 78 brat next ?
Flowmastered87GL replied to 78TurboBrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'll trade you a 92 Loyale for that front clip :-) -
Ya, the 87 got nailed. Just needs a new bumper and a little hammering on the fender. It seems to State Farm that my modifications dont help the value of an "older" vehicle. Unless it was a classic (like a BRAT) or something then I am stuck with what I got. Their first offer wasnt a lowball, it was the ONLY offer... its what an 87 GL in halfway decent shape goes for in the average market. The carb and stuff really dont help the value cause the car is worthless without them. So I am stuck with the $679 or whatever. @ getting some money out of it :madder: @ not getting anywhere close to what was put into it. Then again it WILL cost $31 to repair, so even though I am getting screwed with a low unmovable value, I can make it "good enough" (but still not as good as original) for much cheaper Maybe when I start paying for my own insurance I will find a company that gives value to aftermarket things.

Thats the car. Hmmm nothing has been signed... think I can call back and say that # is a load of crap?? And any acceptance of the numbers they gave WERE from me (who is NOT the registered owner) My dad owns it and hasnt signed anything yet. Because personally I do feel the car is worth more than that. Do I deserve more than that? Well yes and no. The damage is very minor, but will take alot of time to tinker with. And I do have like $7000 worth of receipts from the last 6-7 years. To build a similar car (even with a FREE body with 275K on it) and to stick in the engine, seats, CB, stereo, rims, carb, exaust would cost over $2000. So... is it worth calling back saying... ummmm ok you tried to screw me and I dont have to take it??

Its parked in the lot in front of my Apartment... if you can find my apartment feel free to look at it. (I cant drive it right now, no tags or plates or registration or insurance) Ok so I drove it down here to Portland from Tacoma... but that was cause I JUST bought it. So now all its gonna get is short jaunts around the apartment complex to keep the car healty until I get some documents for it.

I talked to the Insurance people today, they offered $690 for the car + $32.50 in some DMV expense compensation. I am able to buy the car back for $45.79 Therefore I will be getting a check for $679.17 in afew days Time to go to U-Pull-It to find a replacement bumper. Oh, and the car may or may not end up with a branded title. State farm is required to report it to Oregon, but any branding or inspections are between me and the State. I wish I coulda got more, but $679.17 ins't exactly bad. Its more than I was hopeing for originally (and Ed, your check for $132.50 will be on its way up after I get my check from the Insurance company :-) )

My 98 Impreza has one issue that I need to figure out. THe parking lights dont work :cornfuzz: The only lights that come on with the headlights are the headlights and guage lights. The 2 side markers on the front dont and the tailights dont. The license plate light I dont belive is plugged in yet (I still need to finish plugging stuff in int he trunk) THe brake lights work and the rear turn signals work (fronts still unplugged, has a new front bumper) I figure I can just crawl under the front to fix the turn signals, but no parking lights... Could it be a fuse? Are the parking lights an independent fuse from the headlights? (car was rear ended so there could have been a short when it was hit?) Will just plugging stuff in in the rear make it work (like no parking lights work til the license plate lights are plugged in or something??) I'm going to go tinker with it later toady, but any ideas help

It currently has a CA salvage certificate, I am going to sell it that way and just pay the bill for the new owner to get a title. No point in me titling it if I am going to sell it in a week or 2. This is the car that was rear ended. It looks beautiful now. Its debadged and de-winged at the moment (thats and old pic of it) the wing is going back on, the badges arent, it look really cool without em. All it needs is tint and it would look as awesome as my roommates black Volvo S80 T6 Its an auto tranny by the way. The car is also for sale The reason I was uncomforable is the seat is a different height than the ones in my GL and I was unable to use the cruise control yesterday because of the rain and standing water on the road, so having my leg in 1 place for 2 hours wasnt too fun. (for some reason though I can drive my 87 from Whistler BC to Portland Oregon with 2-3 pee breaks and be just fine :cornfuzz: )

Personally I am happy as is because I know when its wet I can kill Durangos Though... in the purpose of sportsmanship and competition.... a subaru class REALLY would be ideal. (Vintage subaru... EA series basically... keep XT6 with PGT) -
Rear seat belts.
Flowmastered87GL replied to ScoobieNoobie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When it comes to your kids safety... personally I will say this... Get like a 92 loyale... And swap the guts of your car in... then its as relaible as your car, and has the 3 pt belts of the loyale... then your kid is safe AND you have a good car I'm sure you could weld in the Loyale shoulder belt mounts.... but to REALLY be safe.....
