  1. Ehhh it depends... sure the carbs hurt up hills... all EA82's do. However... what is your top speed... if you can hit like 80 pretty easy on open freeway you car is probably fine... when my engine was screwed my top speed was like 64 MPH... now its 103... more if I could get some open freeway
  2. What I was told by Bob (he sold you the freeze plugs Andrew)... Leakdown tests tell you whats REALLY going on compression tests only tell you so much... Dunno if that helps, dont know how to do a leakdown test... but thats what he said when I had the 87 turbowagon compression tested.
  3. I suggest a 90+ legacy L to suffice But a Legacy 90+ LS to really be plush. the LS has more features, but the L really has all you need. Be carful of the air suspension. Try to find car that has coil overs, NOT the air suspension as it CAN fail.
  4. We call them pugs because off the top of the head its hard to spell Peugeot (is that right??) Its just easier to say Pug rims rather than Peugeot rims.
  5. Just look at my title... with the beer in there... if you were in Oregon I would already be there
  6. since when does that matter??? Give them the VIN and they cant have any fight to it... just dont tell em the engine is new :-)
  7. Its probably hard to put back on because the 2 mounts are slightly tweaked from all the hammering. You may have to hammer them a bit. They should look like this | | This is an exaggeration, but if they are going like this a bit \ / then it will be a bit harder to get it in there. They may even be going / \ Break out a tape measure and check em.
  8. I stand behind Richie as well, he wont try to screw you over just to make a buck like the dealers will :-)
  9. True, but sometimes it is handy to be able to hop up on the curb to fit around a ford expedition thats unable to fit in its lane. Driving on the curb with no sidewalk on the other side of it takes true skill (yes ive done it... had I gone too far over the car woulda slid down and gotten hung up on the A-arms )
  10. did it magically come on at a mileage of 60, 120 or 180K? (approx) IF so just swap the connectors under the dash... I think there is a green and blue one, just unplug from blue and plug into green, or unplug green and plug into blue... should be under the steering column somewhere if I remember right
  11. actually my 88 GL was performing similar to this when I bought it, all it needed was a head GASKET... I'm interested to see whats wrong when we tear into it.
  12. Well there goes my idea (even though you can get em for as little as $25 plus the cost of a rebuild kit)
  13. I havn't seen it around here. Maybe its hidden in Richie's Subaru jungle (j/k) There is a cream colored 360 (totally cherry too) van rolling around The Dalles Oregon... he he its color makes it SOOO look like a twinkie now that you bring up that name.
  14. If the passenger side head is screwed its a direct bolt on. If the drivers side head is screwed all you need to do is plug the EGR bunghole thingie with a bung of some sort Heh heh I said bunghole
  15. ya why not?? then once its straight again make sure all the welds on it are still good and then put the bumper cover back on
  16. there are 4 bolts inside the engine bay which you can remove and then the bumper should slide out. After its out just BFH the crap out of it
  17. Thats alot of miles...... but since its in good shape mechanically (new engine) I would say in the $1000 area. Mmmmm rustless brat
  18. being an EA82 (its your 88 right?) I would just say to replace the bumper... or take it off and take it apart... but thats NOT easy to take the bumper apart. Cant you get one for like $25 at a u pull it yard like we can up here in Oregon?
  19. I placed somewhere in truck SUV.... like 8th or 9th not bad for only 2 events in that class though
  20. Anyone have this picture?? I cant find it on my hard drive and I want to install my free legacy seats in my 82 brat while I have 2 days off from work.
  21. I'll be in class then :boohoo: I'll send them an e-mail though to at least give my $0.02
  22. I got mine, Thanks... looks like the impreza is just like I thought... written off as a total loss in San Francisco, and then sold to me from Tacoma WA... no other damage though
  23. I still have mine in my car, I think I was one of the original people to actually KNOW what that thing was :-p But yes, no change if you unplug it (my chime is disabled though... so maybe it would change that) But take it out and toss it, you dont need it
  24. Generally you loosen the outside bolt on the alternator first, then the one on which it pivots. You can stick a 14MM open end wrench on the BACK of the pivot bolt and use it to tighten up the belt tension. Then tighten up the 12mm bolt that slides up and down on the outer alternator mount. Then tighten the inside pivot one and you are done
