Anyone ever done a timing chain on a front wheel drive Cadillac? talk about a pain in the rump roast, you have to drop the whole front sub frame off with the tranny and engine still attached then when you have to time it back back that's a whole chore by itself.... give me a Subaru any day to work on, when ever a Subaru comes into the shop where I work I always hop on it

I would hit up the yards, but New York State just loves to use salt so much, so chances are they are all rotted well, and thanks

Make sure you get the timing belt kit with all of the idler pulleys, tensioner, belt, and waterpump. Since you have it apart I would do the crank and cam shaft seals, along with a new thermostat since you'll have the water pump out, it's much easier, I always get the gates timing belt kit and the stant X-stat thermostat....oh yeah and don't forget to pull the oil pump off and tighten down the backing screws and use red locktite on them, and obviously get a complete oil pump gasket set

Yeah seriously... I pulled the engine in my 01' legacy, put a clutch kit in, and full timing belt kit and put the motor back in and was driving her in 6.5 hours

What she is doing is vibrating like a bitch when you hit around 30 MPH, I have diagnosed a couple of re-ends before and that what it seems to be, not sure though..The reason I'm asking is because I found a 2002 outback sedan with the 3.0 and every option with 176,xxx miles on it and it's only $1,500, I know this guy, and I was just tying to figure some stuff out in case I buy this car.. and the car does have VDC

And an easy way of braking that bolt free on the harmonic balance is to use a 1/2 beaker bar, and put the socket on then put it so the beaker bar is against the top of the drive side frame rail and just bump the engine over once and it should break it free.. and make sure you remove the radiator it makes it so much easier (more room), plus you have to drain the coolant system anyways

I have a 1998 Impreza that I'm thinking about buying, it only has 86,xxx miles on it with the 2.2L, The question I have is If I get it I was going to do the timing belt, water pump and tennioners on it since it's close to that 90,000 mark and with it being an interference engine I rather be safe then sorry.. Anyhow I was wondering since I have it apart should I do the head gaskets, or just leave them alone and run her

I would like to confirm that the ratios are the same before I get them swapped around and burn that viscus clutch out, lol

Quick question, I have a 2002 Subaru Outback sedan Automatic with the 3.0L but has a back read diff. and I was wondering if I could take a read diff out of a 2001 Legacy L which is also an automatic with the 2.5L and put it in the Outback. I know the bolts will match up I was just wondering about the gear ratios. I know that there's a difference between the Autos ans standards but wondering the same thing base models and Outbacks
