Recently I acquired a 2001 lego sedan for $300 and it runs, drives, has a clear title, the only problem with it is the drivers side is bagged up a bit...any who I want to make it into an off road rig. But I'm trying to find a cheap way to lift it, I have a couple of ideas but always looking for suggestions!

EJ2.5 Turbo?
luko replied to lmdew's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
I have an 2001 EJ25 in my legacy and always wondered what would would happen if I would throw a turbo on it, but after talking to a couple of guys I found out that they used a different crank, cams, pistons and connecting rods in the turbo'd engines compared to the non turbo'd ones. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just what I heard -
Did you do a test for resistance on the temp sensor wires? I know on the 3 gen legacy's if you either unhook or if there is a break in the wires the gauge will go up all the way and the fans will turn on. So there could be a slight break in the wires causing high resistance which causes your temp gauge to go up

Back in March I had put a set of outback struts in my 2001 legacy L and I bought them used but they were supposed to be new. Well anywho today on the way home I had one explode and come apart while I was going down the road. I use my car every day to travel around and work on farm equipment and need it to be fixed ASAP so I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the best place is to get a complete strut assembly or quick strut, Advance Auto doesn't carry a complete strut for my car, Thanks, Luke

This is the first time my legacy has ever done this but here it is, my 2001 legacy started to overheat on me twice today, first time was going through the drive thru and it spiked up to 3/4 of the way then immediately went back to normal, after which I got on the highway traveled 75 miles, then had to go through a town with some stop and go traffic then it happened again. I have been noticing that the over flow tank has been filling up somewhat and today after these two occurrences it was over flowing. What I was thinking is that it could be the radiator car is bad because it is the original one so I replaced it and haven't really drove it since. The head gaskets were done about 60K ago and the thermostat should be fail proof meaning that if it were to go bad it would stick open. I'm just looking for some input on this, like I said I may have fixed it with the new radiator cap but haven't really drove it yet.

What I have is a 2001 legacy sedan and what I need is a good clutch and timing belt kit. My car has 113xxx on her and the clutch is on her way out and while I have the engine out I want to do the timing belt and everything because it was last done at 50,000 so I figured on just doing everything at once so I don't have to worry about it for another 100,000 miles. But what I want to find out is what is a good clutch but nothing to expensive, also what is a good timing belt kit Thanks, Luke

I have a few questions on a 5 speed tranny out of a 2000 legacy with the EJ25. Now I heard that in 2000 this was the only year for the 4.10 gear ratio, is this correct? Another one, if that is correct if i were to put it in my 2001 legacy L sedan if I swapped the rear out as well with out messing up the speedo?

Thanks! Did some messing around with her today and found the wire that was tucked up into the headliner for the mirror/compass, and found that the wire was also there for the tweeters in the doors as well. Probably within the next couple of days I' going to swap the stereo units and the struts as well. And another question, what exactly holds the front and rear bumper covers on I would like to swap them over to my legacy so I can have a set of fog lights, and also for the looks of it, haha

I have a 2000 Outback with just about every option available at the time that is without an engine that is strictly a parts vehicle that I picked up for cheap, and I have a 2001 Legacy L sedan as a daily driver. What I was wondering is that could I take everything off the Outback and put it on my Legacy sedan? Now I know Subaru's are good with running all the wiring and provisions for the options even though they did not come with the car so that all you need is the component, the switch and the fuse or relay. But I would just like to confirm this with some things such as the rear view mirror with the built in compass the heated side view mirrors the AM/FM/tape/6 CD changer/and weather band radio the left and right upper door tweeter speakers Another question is that I would also like to lift my legacy with the outback struts. What all would I need to swap to do this? obviously the struts, but also I heard of swapping the rear control arms off the Outback on to whatever you are putting the on for camber and after that I really don't know. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Luke
