Yep there's always another way ( drilling is usually a last resort effort ) ... The advantage with my method is that you can reuse them if done carefully ... ( It helps also if you give them a good soaking in some lubricant like penitrol, CRC, WD40, etc.) ... Be sure to take some pictures of you efforts Rusty ... Cheers, Bantum ...

You'll have to file / cut a slot big enough for a flat blade screw driver to be able turn them ... P.S. - You might need one of these too ! Cheers, Bantum ...

Sorry for the thread dig, but I was looking for some updated BRAT / Brumby Production numbers ... Found this site has some & more info can be found here : http://www.cars101.com/subaru_archives.html The above only covers US, so wondering if anyone can get hold of a total overall figure of vehicles made in Japan ? I would also like to get figures for other countries including 'Targa tops' or 'Sport' models as they were called here ... Cheers, Bantum ... P.S. - this link : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/brats/brats.html ... no longer works ...

It wouldn't hurt to do the seal while you have it out, save having to do it again later when it starts to leak ... Great ride though - looking good will keeping an eye on this one ... Cheers, Bantum ...

l like the test drive ... So what still has to be done for a 'tore' down ? P.S. - a good tuned 'sport' exhaust should give it a bit more HP & smoother running + still give that 'Burble' Subie sound ... Cheers, Bantum ... -

center console destruction....make that damn stereo fit
Bantum replied to odie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks, The original intention was to put in a DIN head unit, another option I was considering is going with a tablet PC ( See link for more details ) … You could easily put other stuff in there as I have left room for other stuff … Ha - just Flip the image if it bothers you that much … I made this out of 1.2mm thick aircraft aluminium ( so is very strong ) was cut & bent using a press / folder then beaten into final shape. Still not finished yet as I have to decide which way to go … P.S. - I’ve got some sketches somewhere of dimensions for it - will see if I can find them … Cheers, Bantum … -

What's a late 70's subaru FE worth?
Bantum replied to zyewdall's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Would depend on its condition, like how much rust does it really have ? P.S. - for example, this one just came up for sale in OZ for $ 3,999 : http://ninemsn.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Subaru-1600-1977/AGC-AD-15347693/?Cr=0&sdmvc=1 Got any pictures ? Cheers, Bantum ... -

NFI what PO did for a fuel system, would have to ask him why - if as suggested may have blocked the vent altogether ... I will have to search back through this thread to see if I can find a reference ... I think this is it + look at immediate previous posts : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/77261-documented-the-1970-ff-1-project-car/page-42?do=findComment&comment=1003965 After re-reading that lot - I suspect that it may need a vent line run from tank through second 'Evap' Can onto 'Carby' somehow in order to draw off fumes / release pressure ... Who hoo ... ... Can't wait - you must do a video of it running with 'sound' on ... Cheers, Bantum ... -

Looks good ... P.S. - Don't forget to check the fuel / vent lines to the tank, as PO may have installed them incorrectly - from memory he had problems with venting / back Pressure ... Cheers, Bantum ... -

Try this for a fix ... LED Conversions ... http://www.ausubaru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22456 Cheers, Bantum ...

I would imagine that you'll need to have the keys in ignition & engine running for it to work correctly, other than that - checking with multimeter to see if power is actually getting to the port ? Cheers, Bantum ...

Brat bumper VS Wagon Bumper
Bantum replied to SuperBrat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
The center section looks to be the same, it should match the mounting points ... Front : Rear : If it looks anything like these, worth a try ... Cheers, Bantum ...- 1 reply
