  1. sikend667, Thanks I'll check that, but the cowl and windshield rubber look like new. Thanks !
  2. I haven't picked it up yet, but I bought a pretty nice low miles 2WD DL Wagon EA-71, 3AT AUTOMATIC wagon. An automatic is the last thing I look for in a Japanese car, but that's whats in it, and I bought it . Really clean condition with NO RUST, a few dents ect., a cv boot ripped. One odd thing, the carpets in front are all wet, seller said "I don't know", so obviously a problem there. Was garage kept by a "little old lady", maybe first time in the rain ? It has to be a leaking heater core/hose or the doors seals leak like crazy right ? I worked on VW, Audi, Porshe back in the day, rebuilt tons of VW Porshe air cooled, Subaru is a lot like VW, 4 bolts to pull engine, I always wanted a Rubisu, but VW's are air cooled, where is the water in the floorboards coming from ? One thing about VW, you didn't have to worry about water ! I'll post pics when I get it home. EDIT; I need a right front bumper cap if anybody has one. Thanks
  3. Hard to replace a toyota corolla 5 speed delux wagon, I never should have junked it. Had it 18 years and put 700,000 miles on it, delivered pizzas for 6 years and never broke down. Rusted to hell, head gasket has been leaking since I got it 18 years ago, and just kept going and going ! I drove it 600,000 before I had to put a clutch in it ! Bought it for 40.00 !!!, was scrap price back then. Was pushed through auction, the starter was loose, tightened starter and drove it home smoking like a freight train. I drove for a few months and it quit smoking(had a stuck ring I guess), and never burned another drop of oil for 18 years !
  4. Fairtax4me, Thanks for the input, seems too much to me to. I need to find a small import wagon ASAP, and they are hard to find. I have an assortment of local craigslist escorts, focus, toreass wagons for 800.00 but I wouldn't be caught dead in a ford. Import wagons are few and far between. I did take a good look under the car and there is no rust, and the paint flaking doesn't really bother me too much. Didn't look especially leaky other than grease/fluid on one front wheel, all boots looked good. I'll go back and give it a better look, let it run a while then drive and see how it drives. I'm an OK mechanic, but used parts would be kind of hard to find I'm guessing, I cant afford many expensive parts(calipers, gasket sets, timing belts) Thanks
  5. I went and looked at it today when they were open, its a 1993 impreza L wagon 2WD, 126,000 I looked it up on NADA (I looked up a 1994 wagon L,that's as far back NADA goes with detailed info), at 126,000 miles a rough trade in 600.00, average trade in 1000.00, clean trade in 1300.00. Clean Retail 2,300.00. They are asking 3,300.00 ! They want 1,000.00 over Clean Retail and it's not what I would call clean, it has clearcoat flaking off, front bumper has a poor repaint, one of the calipers or something has been leaking on one front wheel. I told the salesman at the dealership I had looked it up on NADA and told him the prices, he said 3,300 was 500 more than they paid on trade, I know that's BS, no dealership pays over NADA trade in value unless is mint or something. I didn't even let him start it up/test drive, told him I would think about it and maybe come back and make an offer, told him I was thinking more like 2,000. What do you think for a 1993 Impreza Wagon L, worth 1,000 over NADA clean retail value, what would be a fair price ? Edit: I have just looked up the 1993 model in NADA's Classic/vintage section and the 1993 list higher than the 1994 WTF ? Here is the listing for the 1994 with mileage detail(126,000) And here is the 1993 Classic/Vintage Value (without mileage) I searched 1993 Impreza wagon and I found where the dealer has had it for a few months and the original asking price was 4,995.00 ! Any thoughts on value ? Thanks !
  6. Now that I think about it, I believe is is probably more like a 1995 or so. I don't remember seeing an AWD badge in it, so I believe it might be two wheel drive. I'm not really familiar with Imprezas, it could even be older, when did they start making the wagon/hatchback Impreza ? It is on the dealers "bargain" lot, and like I say it looks pretty rough with the flaking paint but it does have fairly low miles. I was hoping it was more like 2,000 dollars or so, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking. I'm going to try to get by there tomorrow while they are open and get the details on it, I'll post back when I do.
  7. I looked at an older Impreza wagon 2000-2005? at a dealership, they were closed at the time and no price/info on the car. It is a manual, 5 speed I think, not sure if 2wd or 4wd, not sure if 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.5 ect., Miles were at 125,000 or so. What would be a fair price ? It's black with flaking clearcoat so not the prettiest thing, but I need a wagon and would like a Subaru. Any thoughts ?
