I did the lift months ago and still can't figure out the best way to fix my 4x4 shifter. I heard bending the clutch shifter isn't the best thing to do.. The reason why it's disconnected is that after I did the lift the 4x4 shifter was in the way of the clutch shifter when I tried to reverse. Your advice and expertise is always appreciated! Here's a pic!

I did the 6 lug conversations on my 86 Brat and noticed it's a bit harder to break. Swapping in a ej22 may be asking for trouble without better breaks. What did you guys do to get better breaks?

The stock rear seats I have need a mounting bracket. Has anyone here fabricated them before? Are there any design plans floating around or any advice on how to make them?

Sounds good! Ill dump the Seafoam 1/3 in the gas tank, 1/3 in oil and 1/3 down the carb.. Thanks gents!

Idles at 1000 I'v got a Weber carb. Where would be the best intake/vacuum valve to get the seafoam into the crank shaft? I put better gas in her today but I'v been meaning to do a seafoam anyways..

Usually just for a few seconds after I shut it off it likes to sputter a bit. . Any ideas why or how to fix?

My 86 Brat don't like to start in this cold weather! -10 C she will eventually but if she's sitting in any colder weather than that she wont start. I don't have a block heater and can't really do one as I park on the street downtown. The plugs and wires are newer (6 months), 10w30 oil. The battery could be a few years old but I'm getting good 12 volts on it. I did shoot some quick start in the carb and that didn't help, neither when I tried boosting it.. Any thoughts gents?

Hey there, so the new distributor I got (A1 Cardone) won't go in all the way. It sticks up about half an inch from the engine block where you screw it down. I can feel it slide into the teeth at the bottom of the shaft but it stops there. I wiggled it around a bit being careful not to turn any gears but no dice... The old distributor goes back in no problem. I compared the two and they look identical. All markings used to guide were bang on. I think some more play with the gears may be needed but I'm not sure how much I can do that without throwing the timing off.. Or there's something wrong with the part? Any thoughts gents?

My 86 Brat! I didn't want to post pics until I have the seats in but the guys at my work made this today.. I love it!!!

Finally got her fixed! Turns out it was the ignition module in the disty. . I replaced the whole disty with a brand new one back in August, A1Cardone!! Thankfully it's still under warranty..

Hey can I just run a wire straight from my battery to the ignition coil??

Gloyale, you're so right! It's not the coil, I installed a new one, nothing... I checked the wires and they look ok? I put a voltmeter to the first harness/block. It has two red wires and one green one. Im getting power to them. After that it turns into the wiring harness and I have no idea what to do with that.. Where should I start?

Ill check the wire for sure.. If it's the coil, I see a Hitachi and Nippondenso options for coils.. Do they both work?

Im thiinking ignition coil... I used a volt meter on the + and - on it and I got nothing with the car turned on... Is this ignition coil specific to the brat or can I get a universal one?

OK Ill give it a shot tomorrow.. I tried holding the choke open, no dice...

That's why I can't find it! Lol... Okay so I've tried everything tried boosting, tried popping the clutch, tried dumping fuel in the carb, banged in the ignition coil with a hammer, not too hard, checked fuses.. no go.. it's turning over but no ignition much like the video i made but not starting. .... any thoughts guys?

I'm wondering if it's my ballast resistor.. Does anyone know where it's located on a 86 brat?

Fuel filter is new, air filter is clean. Iv been told the fuel pump either works or it doesn't. Is the that tapping noise the fuel pump? How do I fix that noise? I have a weber carb installed if that helps the diagnosis. I'm away for the weekend but I can take pics of the coil wiring when I get back Monday! I really appreciate the intelligence on this thread gents. Thank you.
