  1. so i got the ej in and mounted up. tomorrow im going to start to hook up the power steering radiator hose and everything else i can think of. my only concern is i dont even know where to start to hook up the wiring. i know i should hook up the necessary few wires to make sure ir runs but other than that im stumped. any help would be greatly appreciated . i have never really done to much in depth wiring other than fans and lights and stereos. thanks. here it is though . im stoked to finally have it in
  2. the 4wd hi and low are the easiest to get into fwd is the problem . i can get into it just not with interior in . pictures to come
  3. yes i have dual range and yes shirting is not the issue . i have extra linkage off a d/r car so i can modify that one. i will post a picture of the problem tomorrow
  4. wish mine was like that but it definitely does rub
  5. i dropped it 1.5 inchs though . does that mean i need to extend it 1.5 inchs not just one?
  6. going to get my flywheel that i had resurfaced to a .900 step right now and then dropping the motor in hopefully . cant wait......
  7. yes i went out and bought them yesterday and removed them from the packaging. i have tried this in a few of my loyale in the past and they never hold any extra weight in my opinion. sweet!!! thanks gloyale i will go try to return these unless they dont let me . might be selling them on board . i will post and let you know if it hold enough of the weight
  8. yes i removed the plate around the shifter . it will engage in FWD (i think car isnt running yet) without any of the interior console installed . but yeah it is a 2 inch lift at the strut tops front and back and i dropped the engine and tranny x member and radius rod mounts down 1.5 inchs along with extending the steering 1 inch ( i tried a 1.5 steering extension and it didnt fit. tried on two cars with same lift still no luck so i made it one inch) how do you extend the d/r linkage though. thanks
  9. i just swapped a D/R tranny into my 2 inch lifted loyale but now the 4wd lever hits the the ground before engaging into FWD. so my question is where would i need to extend to be able to fix this problem .Thanks
  10. so i own a 92 subaru loyale and i installed 5x7 speakers into the rear hatch and am powering them from a amp. my only problem is now even new hatch struts can not hold the extra weight of the speakers and it will not stay open on its own. i am in the middle of putting a ej engine in my car so im pretty busy with that or i would just go search in a parts yard. My question though is does anyone know of struts that can fit and bolt up but that are stonger and could hold more . thanks any info would really help
  11. got the engine all together other than the alternator which i am about to do and then im going to try to make some room in my parents garage so i can pull my car in enough to drop in the engine. . .
  12. i run general grabbers at2 with studs on my 2 inch lifted loyale on 14 inch pugs in the winter. they work amazingly and i can get to timberline no matter what. Mud isnt any probblem either .i used to own a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta with studs and i think they were size 185/70/r13. they were also great tires.
  13. so yesterday i resurfaced the heads and then installed them on the short block. i also got the correct timing belt kit after two runs to the part store. my first kit didnt have the idle gear. i should be putting the rest of the motor together today if everthing goes as planned. i just have no clue how to time this engine but im sure i can figure it out
  14. okay sounds pretty straight forward. is there any legacy radiator in specific that is better or different that i should try to get. ex. like if there are dual row ones that come in outbacks or a certain year. not that familiar with legacys
  15. okay well does anybody have any photos of one already installed . i would be willing to modify one to fit because it seems like the cheaper route
  16. thanks a lot. i already have been having GD do the wiring for my EJ swap along with answering all the random questions that i have . but i did end up asking him and the method he suggested was doing it my self with sand paper . so thats what im doing today after i get the waterpump and oil pan back on
  17. yeah thats what i was thinking i just didnt want to get in to it. Thanks i might try to see if i can get a old rad from one off my buddies but it looks like im probably just going to order a all metal one for a loyale and then get the right sized fittings brazed on
  18. i got mine threw a member on this board . he owns or works for inferno fab. (pretty sure its just his company but dont quote me ). his account name is subi101 . you can find his add in the products for your subaru section. send him a message and go from there. he also was the cheapest i could find and it didnt take even a week to make order and go pick up the part.
  19. my ea82 blew up and i removed and got rid of it long ago. sorry
  20. like the title says does anybody know if i can just swap the hole radiator from a legacy into my loyale when doing a ej swap ? i was going to pick one up from u pull it and see for my self but i figured i would see if anybody has done it . thanks
  21. so i havent got to resurfacing the heads yet but i did disassemble my intake manifold. it was reallt dirty so when i started to clean it off i just decided i would paint it also . here is a before and after. i havent put it fully back together because i am waiting on some gaskets
  22. so today i got my wiring harness back and picked up some headgaskets from the dealer. im going to resurface the heads later tonight with some glass and some sand paper . also picked up an adatper plate a week or so ago . im hoping to get this all together before the snow come to mt hood.
  23. i dont have a video but on my EA82 i ran the stock y pipe and cat and removed the second cat and ran 2 inch pipe all the way back to a axle back that was 2.25 inch and a 2.5 inch tip . extremly loud . i could set off any car alarm i drove by
  24. thanks a lot . i should have this back together befor too long. does anybody know a great machine shop near portland / clackamas area that can resurface the heads off my 2.2
