The Subaru Search and Rescue Thread

If it's the one I'm thinking of, can't remember the road but it runs parallel to the viaduct when ya get along the water front... IF it's the same one been sitting there since 96-98 my first spotting of it anyway -
How's it look when eyeballing down the top of the carb running? She gushing fuel or is it barely visible?
-
Anyone care to help diagnose this....

No I've never ordered from them, mainly giving credit to where I got the image... If it helps though I checked the ratings and they avg 8.75 (4.5 stars) from the 4600 people that rated them -
Metal Hood Scoope anyone?
TallonX replied to Subaruist's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like some thrift store jumping is in order lol Seriously tho, a low profile oval metal plater would probly be in the right ballpark -

That's just beautiful... -
My book (one in reach) says spec is 5/64"-5/16" toe in for 4wd sw 90+ probably supposed to be toe out as it states for previous years but most of these books have issues lol Check all your steering shaft components under the hood

Hehe having fun reminiscing man? Great stories, all of em... I could toss in a few myself but none of it was in a Roo... Ah the rigs that'll bring a tear to your eye... 73 Maverick 4 door "drive in special" first car 82 Mk2 P-Type Supra hehe my patriot missile 73 F250 Flatbed my Warthog the look what I can do truck 86 F350 XLT Lariat 4x4 can you say tonka toy? And sexy... Really sexy... Which I traded for... 87 Subaru GL Wagon... Reminds me of the Supra, hence the black band across the bottom and the new black body line accent band... She earned that stripe, 40k miles 2 years, Alt mod, brakes, extreme carb cleaning, oil, gas, spray paint... Nary a complaint endearing lil car I must say -
Or ready made 6x140 Spec milled and happy better than a luck shot with a drill bit lol

Lift the nose letting the tires free hang lock the steering wheel wiggle the tire back n forth on it's steering axis, should be a little play but not much from bouncing on the wheel lock, make sure you listen for noises. Figure the sway bar as an anti roll device, it ties both sides of the IFS together, pretty much a torsion bar that's only under stress when one tire is up and the other is down. From what it sounds like alignment is doing this \-/ which is unstable at speed... Typically done to this effect /-\ with drag and flexing ending up like |-| at speed... Or your noticing the effects of severely grooved road surfaces

'82 BRAT is hurt, hurt real bad.
TallonX replied to newsalempride's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Almost sounds like one I was going to trade my Mosin for... Does it happen to be white, horribly rusted, and have just about every nook cranny and void filled with expanding foam? Lol- 11 replies

They run front already, 4wd engages the rear drive
-
Aren't the turbo 5 speeds a different final drive ratio which means that he'd need the rear diff?
-
I'd verify the wheel cylinder on the other side, if not straight out replace it at the same time. Smaller bore = less pressure applied to the shoe = less stopping power... After all the surface area of the piston is the force multiplier

Evidently you've never used squeeze cheese... Pet term for "The Right Stuff" XD -
Thanks for the search, I came to the same conclusion when I did. Verification is always nice lol tho it did raise more questions on the WX at the end... Date code maybe? I don't feel the half shifts like so many people have mentioned, 250k mi is as such... So in conclusion from what I've been pouring over... The torque converter unlocks under acceleration The toque converter locks at highway speeds when a near 1:1 ratio between the in put and out put Been awhile since I've fiddled with automatics, new fangled bs... Yadda... Yadda... Just hits like overdrive in an Exploder, probly the reason it's feeling like another gear

Owe... I just gave myself a migraine... Information overload... It's possible what you say bratman, just not what it hears/feels like... Idk honestly... Not the first car that that I've had where it's had something that's not supposed to exist, just wondering if any other 00 Impreza L owners are having a similar experience
