  1. There not worth a 35hp hassle. Put a 4.11 or 4.44 5spd in it instead. That will give it more zip
  2. Yes, they call Subaru and file the claim.. My guess is its about $3k there cost... Week wait to get the parts, week wait to have it done. They will also provide a rental
  3. Oil consumption test is done with a fresh engine usually. You get the test initiated, drive until the low oil light comes on and go back. Low oil light is 1 quart low. Subaru has a 1,200 mile threshold for oil usage. If its over 1,200 miles they call it ok. If its less they short or long block it depending. My mom had her 2012 Impreza done and it went from 1qt in 700 miles to zero usage. It dropped from a 1,200 mile usage quickly
  4. It might bolt up, but it's not going to 'fit'. The earlier 1998-2001 Forester bumper may work but im not sure about all the body lines
  5. The EA filters are a different thread than EJ engines, and are only common with them and some pre 1996 Nissans. Its unlikely Subaru still makes filters for the old gens. Just stick with the wix
  6. Ratios might be different, but I think the GT and RS use the Same 3.90 ratio as the Impreza, but either or might also be 4.11 A call to Subaru with trans codes might clear it up
  7. If you gotta rewire it, forget NA stuff and get a Wrx harness and ecu. Then build something from that..
  8. I'm lucky, my white 2001 Forester is nearly an exact match to rustoleum pro white. Either gallon, quarts or spray can match.
  9. Give these guys a call and see how many hours a Unimog clutch should take.. They do Unimogs, tanks and a lot of other Military vehicles.. usually have 3-4 Unimogs around since they buy and sell them. Millitary Collection Grand Gorge Ny, 12434 (607)588-7002
  10. With a 1995, you will have an easier time with 1993-1999 stuff. The dash from an 01 will fit physically but not electrically. You would need to merge harnesses and at that point you might as well just do a WRX swap and make a faux 22B or R-STI since you have a 2dr
  11. RP, Mobil 1 and a couple others are all essentially the same oil. RP is expensive dye. Its been proven in testing and the breakdown sheets
  12. 6k miles TOPS.... Don't fall for the purple dye. it's not magic oil.. 'pushing' an oil change on a turbo is going to end up with a blown up turbo.. Subaru requires/ recomends synthetic for the Turbo models at least back to 2004.
  13. What is your engine code found on the drivers side strut tower EJ253?. have you tried std bearings? The ID clearence should come out somewhere around 55mm due to oil clearence.. Stock and any crank that I know of does not use anything but a 48 or 52mm so it's unlikely.. Truthfully, unless you want extra HP, there is no need to rebuild an EJ engine. Drop in a 1999-2011 EJ25 short block, use your heads and intake.. get lowest mile you can but, engines gonna run less than $1k most times under $500
  14. resource conserving = marketing speak for recycled
  15. Yes, the EJ222 sometimes uses a MAF/MAP combo system depending on model, and the EJ251 Forester is straight MAP system
  16. Yup. keep the crank sprocket, drivers cam pulley and intake/ wiring from the original. They may be different, might not be
  17. If your alignment is still ok, yup. If not, I wouldn't put money into it with a bent frame
  18. A 2001 does not use the downstream for anything except the Cel. But your headder might be fooling the upstreams
  19. I have an OBD Link SX II USB adapter and use the provided license OBDWiZ software on an old Dell Latitude D610 laptop... The adapter/ software is very powerful and is $30 if you have a laptop with at least USB 2, it will run correctly.
  20. Yup a 1999-2001 EJ222 will fit right in. Use the original intake and drivers cam pulley, and you will need a single port Y pipe
  21. Coolant or oil seeping into the cylinders over a period of time. Wouldn't be fuel as that would happen every day
  22. Tranny might as long as the 2004 Forester uses the same 4.11 gearset, dash will fit, but electrically may not function. I personally hate the 2004 HVAC controls. Those touchy twisty controls are just horrible.. The good old sliders on the 1998-2002's is much better
