I have a 93 loyale ea82 that has several gremlins that like to hide when I'm looking to fix them. I want to do an ej swap and can find a lot of 18's and no 22's. Like all engines bigger is more HP and torque most the time lower mpg. Atm I get about 13 mpg freeway (a gremlin) so ether engine should be an increase. Just looking for input on the topic. I know the ej engines are bullet proof and that's all I know about them. Thanks in advance.

When I was working on my rear wheel bearing it took 20 minutes from car parked to shocks off... 4 hours is way to long. My bearing took me 4 hours seeing I didn't have all the proper tools

Well the tranny is on hold until I figure out the "knocking" coming from the ea82... Sounds like a rod knock but not sure I have new nkg iridium plugs (checked to make sire they were still tight last night) New belt only about 200 miles on it. Doing an oil change on it when I get off work. Out of ideas beyond that.

So I'd have to do a tranny swap and loss the 4wd option? It would be awd what tranny would I need to look for?

So I've been told that I should not drive my loyale with 4wd engaged on dry pavement... I assume it is some sort of LSD set up? What diff can I get that's the 3.90 that I can run it in 4wd I'd like to run it in auto cross dirt/pavement course that I've found

I have done to my 93 loyale is oil change, New right rear control arm with bearing (old bearing destroyed the hub) New gl-5 in rear diff and front diff/tranny, fuel system cleaner, New nkg plugs (last 2 made a world of differance), JVC head unit with kicker door speakers front and back, kicker 10 inch sub with a duel amp (despite being all Walmart bought system sounds great), and 4 new tires. Up coming add ons will be air filter system, exhaust system, off road lights in the grill, grill custom fabricated for lights, and looking for an ej25 block and ej22 heads.

Pulling a burban is impressive but the day I had to pull an 82 dodge d350 4 door ext cab from being high cintered... Then it was sent to the shop for a wheel bearing. Guess the truck helped destroy the hub, needed a new control arm

So I just started a new job, and everyone owns a Honda of some sort. Was "challenged" to a race today by the "big boy" Honda. 2.0 vtec with high compression pistons custom ground cam and other worthless add ons. Need ideas to build a budget motor to smoke his rump roast. I have a 93 loyale 4wd 5speed wagon ea82... Do I find an ej or with some finessing will a es make Honda beating power to shut him up?

Check to see if the intake is cracked. Mine likes to idle about 500 rpm up to 1500 rpm. Around the subaru logo is where mine is cracked

I just got my 93 loyale for 750 bucks. Living in Wisconsin winters are hell, I have the 4wd 5 speed wagon, everyone I know who knows anything about subie's is jealous of it. A guy on my fire department who has a Impreza wagon and WRX STI offered me 1500 already because he knows how well they handle in the snow

Like I said its a 93 it has about 115k on it just starting to seep from the passenger's side valve cover. I got it for 750 and it is still 100% stock plans are still in the air until I find out more info about it like trans issues (that mine may or may not have. No noises, just don't know durability of them). Would like to find a 5 bolt lug conversion. My brother had a 92 legy and had the viscous coupling for the awd ruptured destroying the gears in the trans. He still swears by subie 100% and has tried to get me into one for years.
