theoretical towing question
apintonut replied to suprjohn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
U could put a tarp down and put in the back and go. Ive never towed with a soob but have towed with about every other kind of car and if u remember a few basics u will be fine. Tongue weight needs to be 20% of the trailer load (so 2000lb load should have 400lb tongue weight)(1000lb = 200lb tongue) Braking is reduced by ~1% per 10lb very's car to car thats about averages There lots of other stuff but those are the most important Load it and secure it right leave room to stop get a run at hills if its safe to do so. With that said ive towed a pinto with a pinto no probs Tranny temp would be my only concern with an auto trans its a killer of transmissions i would more concerned with that then any other factor of weight change the fluid and, or, as well, add a 2nd small cooler -

Not sure if ii will run an oil cooler (atleast at first) but i always like a bigger oil filter

Battery connection or bad ground To check use a set of jumper cables ground battery to engine the positive battery to starter then turn the key if it work then un hook one the then the other -
I received a ej18 was told it was hydro locked and pulled for 2.2 swap have every thing but oil pan should i keep it? Scrap it? Was told it ran when pulled but he swaped it out because he had concerns of block warping? He had a 2.2 to be put in anyway.... So is any benefit to the heads on a 2.2 will it bump compression like the old 22re with 20r head.... Is it worth rebuilding or the internals good to Have around? Thought i remember reading they will fit in ea82..... Gut it and and use it for a lighter mock up motor
