  1. If someone could take a couple pictures of there throttle linkage on the carb I'd be very appreciative.
  2. Hey all. Im in the middle of rebuilding my Hitachi Carb. Can someone please tell me how the spring (Number 46 in the picture) attaches? Thanks!
  3. I disassembled each lifter and cleaned out all the carbon. They are all free now and can be compressed. The only difference is they all have slightly different spring rates. One in particular is very weak. I'm referring to the internal spring of the lifter. I put the weak lifter the slot for a exhaust valve. After reassembling the rocker arm assembly, the jiggling pushrod issue is gone. It must have been the seized lifter causing the issue. Will having a hydraulic lifter that can be compressed easily cause any issues? Thanks
  4. Hello all, I have been rebuilding a 82 4 door Gl10. My friend bought it for 300$ with a rod through the block. I had a 84 hydro motor sitting around so i gave it to him. We tore it down completely and sent it to the machine shop. Had the block halves cleaned and honed. The heads got .03 milled off. And delta put a Hp grind on the cam and resurfaced the lifters. Now i am in the process of putting it all back together. I have the left head back on the motor, however I'm have problems with the push rods. The rear two rods can jiggle easily yet the front two have no play. Also, some of the lifters cannot be compressed, no matter how hard i try to push the pushrod into them. Are they the problem? I currently have them soaking in solvent but it hasn't made a difference. Thanks
  5. So, anyone need some new oversize ea81 main bearings?
  6. Part is a Federal-Mogul engine Bearing 6796 M .25MM off rockauto.
  7. Hey all, Im rebuilding a ea81. The crankshaft does not fit in the new center main bearing. I haven't had the crank machined, and i thought i bought standard size bearings. Any ideas? Thanks.
  8. Only two plugs near the battery. I dont believe the black plug with the two white wires is the answer. When i ran 12 v to it a relay buzzed until i unhooked it again.
  9. I have that part. What i need to know is how the battery is hooked into the wiring harness. Thanks
  10. Im still working away doing things here and there. Havent started it yet. Still needs: Fuel lines plumbed Connect harness to motor Exhaust I hope to have it running by this weekend. Its going to be stupidly loud and about 5 diffrent colors, but i cant wait to drive it! I will tear it back down this winter.
  11. I want to be able to enjoy the car while i save to build the motor, so im still running the stock carb. I just dropped it in straight out of the other wagon. It could use a reseal, but whats a few more miles before i do. My plans for the motor: spfi convertion spfi pistons hp cam grind mill .03 off each head I built a buddys motor this way and we are pretty happy with it.
  12. I chose to just grind down the bell housing to clear the steering linkage. I also had to shorten the stud coming from the motor.
  13. Pulled the 4spd out of my gl. Wish my pressure washer was working, soooo much gunk.
  14. Finished prepping and painting the engine bay. Brakes and new clutch cable installed.
  15. Hey all, I am in the process of installing my ea81 and 4spd dr into my 1977 wagon. I have almost everything hooked up. The only positive lead i have goes to the starter. My wiring diagram shows two more leads coming off the positive post. I have no power when i turn the key. What do these other connectors look like? I bought this wagon as a shell so im flying blind. Thanks!
  16. You could do a high comp spfi ea81. They are great motors and put out around 120 hp depending on the build. I built a big valve motor, which is from 83+. My build: spfi conversion mill .03 off each head spfi pistons or ea71 pistons hp cam grind As for a trans you could run a 5 spd single range. It is a solid trans and can also be used for rwd. What else do you want to upgrade?
  17. Any update? I would like to see how you made the ea81 and dr fit as i am about to start the same swap in my 77 wagon. thanks
  18. Taking a nap till payday. I will try to post more photos soon. Thanks for the interest!
  19. My plans are to restore it, including the awesome sprite green. I will also be using a 5 spd single range and a high comp large valve ea81. This shouldn't be too hard, as the car is pretty rust free, spots here and there but nothing major. I will post more photos soon. Thanks!
  20. This is my new project, among way to many other Subaru projects. This little car is awesome. The previous owner started to restore it, but it was never finished. It's missing nothing but the motor and trans. All its parts are packed up nicely in the back seat.
  21. Punched the ignition controller and the car started up. Gonna buy a new one! thanks guys!
  22. Just bought a 88 carbed justy. It started when it was cold and bogged quite abit. The check engine light is on. Once it heated up, it died and wont restart. Seems to be getting fuel.I used a spark tester and although it has 11 volts to the coil it doesnt make a spark. I replaced the coil with a known good one and still nothing. Now what? Thanks
