I was planning to switch trannys too. I'm friend suggestion was a 70's small block Chevy and matching trans. Does anyone know common gear ratios for those trannys? It like to use the original rear end if possible even if I need a custom drive shift. Thanks all

Hey guys. Kicking around the idea of making a sweet v8 gl wagon. Mostly wondering about which motor/trans i would look into? Ive never really owned any muscle cars so i dont know where to start. Something simple paired with a cable operated trans would be awesome. Id like to be able to use the gls original rear end. Maybe a welded diff. Im thinking carbed for least amound of wiring. Id want to use as much of the gl as i could. Less money the better. I really just want to scare the crap out of fart can hondas with big smokey burnouts in a little old beater. I was planing to upgrade to stiffer suspention like bumblebeasts writeup.Rear disc swap and some wide 6 lugs. Thanks guys!

New Market Skills Center is hosting its annual Car Show on MAY 8th! We have decided to mix it up this year and try to have more variety. Rally cars, clean builds, and even wheelers are encouraged to attend! New market is an alternative high school. In addition to the car show we are also having an open house for our programs. If you aren't interested in the school side its totally fine to simply view the cars. Free burgers! Complete a tour book and insistently win a prize from one of many sponsors! If you would like to enter a car please call (360)470-0596 and ask about the car show. This is a student run event. Thank you everyone! https://www.facebook.com/newmarketskillscenteropenhouseandcarshow

Its not lifted its stock except it is on some bigger 6 lug tires(dont know size of the top of my head). The collision shop instructor told me he was pretty sure it was the subframe. the mounts on the body looked okay and straight.

Earler this winter i slid my beloved gl into a curb. The rear end not dog tracks pretty bad. I took it to school and came to the conclusion that the sub frame the rear diff and hubs are mounted to was tweaked. A friend of my has a old brat he said i could take parts off. I haven't looked at the brat yet. Anyone know if i could swap the rear sub frames? Thank you!

I bought a 02 wrx wagon from a friend of mine. Loving it so far. Does anyone have any recommendations or tips? Still kind of cash poor but i could do stuff over time. Parts list. (Not sure if 100% accurate.) sti block. Forged pistons. 32 way Godspeed coils. Stock bov capped to vent to atmosphere . No name axleback exhaust can. 05 legacy gt 5 spd tranny. It has a rebuilt title and supposidly only 30,000 on the motor. 155,000 on the body. I paid 4100$ Thanks guys! this is my first new gen subaru. Cheers!

Over the weekend it snowed in Washington. I had just got my 1984 gl all freshened up with new wheel bearing and cv axles. I went to my old schools parking lot which was super snowy and untouched. i had some fun doing awd skids but i got a little crazy. i couldn't see a curb hidden by a snow bank. i went sailing sideways towards a empty looking corner of the lot. BLAM! i hit the curb on my back tire at about 30 mph. As soon as i tired to drive away i knew somthing was wrong. the rear end keeps pulling out to the left and trying to skid me out. I'm at school and the cars at home so i drew this awesome sketch. How likely is it that i majorly screwed up something? i will post better pictures later. thanks.

The mystery of the green switch.....
kirzick replied to that one kid's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do you keep it on or off when your driving? i have a switch for my fuel pump in the same place. -
You could also look into doing the spfi swap instead of a carb. Everything depends on how much you want to spend.

Jerry just to clarify this is a ej tranny not a ea82. I thought your kit was for ea82? -

so no regular stereo fits the Brat dash?

I cut a slot in the back of my glove box and pushed the deck in halfway. Works perfect. ill upload a picture later. I found it easier to straight wire the deck rather then use the original harness. -

Would 25 spline axle inner cups connect to a 23 spine axle or do they have to be welded? Does anyone make a cross member kit? i don't have a welder -
Im gathering everything to put a freshly resealed 90 ej22 in my 84 gl. I currently have a 4spd d/r. At first i was just going to use the adaptar plate but now it seems like the 4spd is giving out. It would be for a street/rally car, so i thought itd be cheaper and easier to swap to awd. I've searched through alot of threads but haven't found any good info on installing the new trans. Anyone have some tips? Thanks

Thank you everyone for the input. The car does currently run and drive but it is starting to get tired. I have a place to work on it now. My friend has a wrx swapped 87 rx that really inspired me to go after this swap. i found a job yesterday so now i have more income to put towards the car. Im 17 and still live at home so i dont have bills and i want to keep this car for as long as possible.

I have a 1984 gl 4spd duel range. I have a clean 92 ej-22 sitting in the garage. A friend will sell me a harness and ecu for 50$. I still need a fuel pump, clutch, trans plate, re drilled flywheel, high pressure fuel line, front wheel bearings, fluids, and a cv axle. I have about $500 saved up. Can i get the swap done with this much money? i cant afford to have my car not be usable for more then a few weeks. Any input would be appreciated, thank you.
