Can anyone identify this front bumper?
BoxerRebellion replied to BoxerRebellion's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
@Miles - Wow. My friend, are you sure it's the same bumper? Like @leniac said below your post... He's seen it before. I know I've seen it before as well. I was actually looking for where I saw it earlier this morning. The gentleman I bought it from, had it for two years. The bumper was on the vehicle when he bought it... And you've seen this exact GL? I've actually seen another lifted maroon GL here in the Portland area recently... That I know wasn't this one. It's all slightly tricky. I'm simply trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together, so I can attemp to figure out where... And what this car's been through. It is a nicely running and driving Subie. And... With that said, I'm ready for any inconveniences that may wander my way. -
93 Loyale Mass Air Flow Sensor..Unusual?
BoxerRebellion replied to RXJ's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
For the love of knowledge... What a mass air flow sensor does - is measure the amount of oxygen entering an engine through it's intake. What an oxygen sensor does - is measure the amount of residual oxygen left in the exhaust. The ECU then takes the measurements from both the MAF and O2 sensor and adjusts the air/fuel mixture accordingly... In theory creating the "perfect mixture." -Cheers. -
Strange hot EA82 behavior
BoxerRebellion replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The GL I recently obtained... It's fan has been... What's the way to put it... Wired to always be hot. It's always on. Which, obviously comes with pros and cons, but it's an option for you as well. And commenting on having a radiator "rebuilt". In my own opinion... I think purchashing a brand new one and installing it, is much more cost effective as well as sensical. Having the most crucial part of your cooling system in a new - working order is much more appealing than trusting some random Joe to "clean and rebuild" it. "Don't fix it if it ain't broke." Well... yes. Absolutely. Though... When it comes to the system of piping that keeps your motor at an optimal and acceptable temperature... Knowing... Feels good. How's your antifreeze smell? -
Overkill on a CEL question
BoxerRebellion replied to The FNG's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If a Subaru doesn't have it's check engine light on... Something's wrong. -
Tricky tricky. Here's the thing - No matter what type or brand of car it is... If it has a boxer it will inevitably... Leak. Boxsters. Veedubs. Beetles. Scoobs. Goldwings. Regardless. What's tricky about the boxer, is that when oil leaks... It goes everywhere. It spreads. It is often very difficult to identify an oil leak on a horizontal engine. That is unless it's... Gushing. Drippin' hard. Like a few said above my response, wash the under chasis the best you can. Hose, car wash, degreaser... Whatever. Get it clean. Drive it for a few. Then locate. I've had to do that exact method twice. Once, twas a valve cover gasket. The second time, head gasket.

Where does this wire go?
BoxerRebellion replied to bluebonnet81's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Can we get another pick? A closer look at the end of the wire... What does it connect to? Where does it start? -
Howdy. Picked up this snazzy GL about a month ago. Wondering if anyone can identify it's bumper. Where it's from. Who made it. I've seen two other Subies here on USMB with it. My curiosity has been sparked. If you or a loved one has any information, please... do tell. -BoxerRebellion out.

Why thank you. I dig it. Just waiting for Winter to roll through. I'm tired of the sun already. I'm sure someone's got a little info on that bumper as well. Like you said... Someone will find it. Actually... I'll probably just post a thread on it. Which... I'l do now.

Howdy folks. Here's my recently acquired GL. The peeps who had it before me did a little work. This GL makes my fourth Subaru. This is the first one to be lifted, as opposed to the obvious alternative - lowered. So, it's new. To me. '87 GL frame and body. '95 Impreza 2.2. '91 Legacy tranny. 4" SJR lift. Raked. The underbody LED kit was included in purchase. The Weapon-R intake I've had for a number of years. I originally purchased it for a Legacy.... That Legacy was totaled. Held onto it for three years, put it right back where it belongs. An EJ22. I've a number of things to do to this GL. The list is adding up. The most crucial being the front rotors/pads. Upon trying to switch out pads, I discovered the rotors were so far worn, that the created outer lip is preventing the caliper from being removed. I'll figure out what to do there. Also, the bumper. Does anyone have any info on it? I've seen three Subies so far here on USMB with the same bumper. Where'd it come from? Company? Individual? Anwho, if I have any questions... I know who to ask. Or where, rather. This is BoxerRebellion (a.k.a. Evan) signing out. Talk with you all soon. Cheers. -Let's hit T-Line. Now.

1996 Subaru Legacy station wagon(tons of pics)

Wow. Trick job on the rims. Everything else as well. Nice work. -
Very nice my friend. Agressive stance. The color adds to it's ruggedness. Do you happen to know where that rack came from? I'm looking for a good ..."cargo basket." That's the word right? Half-considering making one.

How hard is a CV boot replacement?
BoxerRebellion replied to pablo83's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's been a few years since I've swapped a CVA. With that said, my driver side front is starting to knock and... it really isn't the biggest deal. The tools are typical. No need for a hub remover or what have you. It slides neatly into the tranny, and connects easily to the hub. Safely lift the car, disconnect it from the hub side, then pull 'er out. Difficulty - "Some Experience Required" -
Subie has a broken leg.

Wow... I've yet to see something along these lines. You're on the right road now. Best of luck.
