  1. well, got a couple of sensors so was going to try them out one at a time and cant figure out how to remove it from the cat w/o dropping the y-pipe..i do have the official o2 sensor removal tool but dont have jacks or jack stands and just by crawling underneath there it looks like the y pipe is too close to use that removal tool... any tips/suggestions or flames?
  2. yep, got the new/used o2 sensors for my bad one but need someone with the correct wrench and knowhow to install...the board member sent along a tip about grounding a gray wire to the chassis but the wire side of the sensor looks nothing like the one i have on there now and i am not about to chance anything...the rig is pinging really really bad and this is after setting back the timing and premium gas thanx for any and all help!
  3. this is pretty interesting...when i lived in denver i had heard about "some" guy who was doing this subie conversions...ej's into ea82 bodies etc...but never got around to finding him... if ya ever want to sell this thing........
  4. as the title says...read your private mail
  5. todd this was more of a swap/buy/install and shoot the s%%t type thing actually
  6. thanx to all of them for thoroughly enjoyable outing into the great southeast part of washington! need to learn the countryside and a different route to the tacoma pap and found 1 thanx again everyone!
  7. well, took off the crossbars and any other loose bits...the outer rails are on by screws and the inner two by pop rivets...if you get down low and level with the roof and rails you can see where the rails are lifting from the roof with the rivets... so, if taking off all those bits doesnt help and it still rattles then i know those are the problem and i am sol, if the noise goes away, then i will put on one crossbar at a time and check for noise.. thanx everyone! alan
  8. nah, have all the knobs and plates and stuff...its a rattling sound, not a sliding type of sound..kinda like pinging...if ya bang your hand on top of the rails you can make the same sound it does whenever i go over 45....
  9. that's the problem...nothing seems loose..well, screw wise anyway...since i havent takent them off yet maybe there is something underneath those rails that is ratttling...
  10. went to work and back today, no rattling!! so, on with the front crossbar first..will drive it a bit and see...then the rear one..then those mounting caps for each one of the rails...i WILL conquer this!! i hope... well, tried to tighten all of the screws in the rails and they were all real tight, so that's not the answer...if i went ahead and took them off, could i possibly add some kind of stuff under the rails to keep them quiet? also, if the screws are all tight, whats causing the racket? would turn up the stereo but dont have one
  11. havent the faintest idea, i dont have any equipment here at all...
  12. okey doke, will do, lets hope the new one lasts longer then this brand new bosch did at 4 months
  13. well, the timing is reset on my 89 spi, right at 20 degrees...premium chevron gas, still pings under load..going up hills etc....could the o2 sensor that i have a code 32 on be causing it to ping? run too lean maybe?
  14. my ngk's are 8mm and fresh from the pap
  15. drink holders i've done two things, one, got a euro jr cup holder from wally world and mounted it on that nice flat spot you were talking about on the dash..if ya drill straight down you can then take one of the center vents out and get access to that hole that you just drilled and use a couple of small nuts/bolts to anchor it down and then put the vent back..only problem i found was the location limited the size of the drink container you could put there because of the windshield.. what i have now is one of the those containers where it mounts flat to the dash right next to the righthand middle vent, to the left of the glovebox...and just screw it straight in...the holder then folds down to hold even big gulps... here is alink to the pic of one similar to mine on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63691&item=7969532362&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW good luck!
  16. i said nothing about "beer" mugs...travel mugs, with the emblem on that...
  17. umm, how about some plastic ones for the car, you know, some travel mug type of thing?
  18. do these come in 15"s??
  19. nope, they have a ball seat and are pretty long..check the wheel page out and you will see a pic...
  20. yeah, i'm still trying to find some for my 15" alloy ones, from a 505.......
  21. well, before i spend the big $ to buy lug nuts, cant i mount them using the plain subie acorns and just drive around the block and stuff, going over curbs and big speed bumps and stuff and see if they rub? wont the acorns hold for that long? alan
