  1. I have the 4 stainless holders! 3 fronts and 1 rear. They are all 2 screw style. The j-hook style one looks factory, the lower part is 100% the same as the 2 screw style.
  2. So I got some new wiper arms because the driver one had been cut and repair with a screw on end. I went to replace the passenger and it's a jhook style. The donor is the push in style. Both are 92 loyales. Which one is correct?
  3. Check the steering rack bushings. Have someone turn the wheel while your looking at the rack under the car. The rack shouldn't move side to side at all.
  4. I'm talking about AWD. I have a dual range 4WD 5speed. The AWD pinion shaft is longer than the 4WD. Just didn't know if the AT pinion/center is the same as the MT.
  5. If you need one, I pulled one off a 1992 Loyale yesterday at the pic and pull for $12. Got the harness and bracket with it.
  6. I just talking about the rear diff. They both seem to be on the trail shaft housing. I am just wondering if the auto pinion is the same as the manual.
  7. Can you swap an auto XT6 center section to a normal 5 speed? Junkyard has a auto XT6 trans sitting in a pile, pretty sure theyd give me a hell of a deal on it. AWD dual range would be a nice upgrade.
  8. So I got a free pair of old Toyota wheels from a buddy and plan on throwing them on my loyale. They are 16x7 with +15 Offset. The stock 13s are 13x4.5 with ~ 40mm offset that I can measure. So inside clearance will be almost exactly the same, but they will stick out almost 2 inches more rim wise. She has 175/70R13 on it now so 22.6" x 6.9", 195/45R16 are 22.9" x 7.7". So they are the best size fit for the wheels. I need to throw the rims on and see how well the tuck is, they might fit in the wheel well. Only 2 inches wider! Should look a lot better than the faded plastic hubcaps, just have to do something about the Toyota emblem on the center caps.
  9. Switch was bad, swapped it from a junk yard pull and works fine now.
  10. So my 92 loyale has a digital AM/FM radio with the tape deck. The tape deck is hooked to the head unit via 8 pin DIN. I read a few topics on how to make a cable, but none on how to mod the tape take and keep it. So inside the tape deck there is a pin header that is soldered on the board at the end of the 8 pin cable. This is the pin out: Blue = Left + Red = Right + Yellow = Audio - Black = Power - Brown = Power +12v Green = Tape in deck. Turns head unit on, but disables radio. So you can solder an aux cable to red blue and yellow. It seems the head unit automatically mutes the radio signal when my phone is connected, didn't need to wire a switch to the tape in deck signal
  11. I thought it might be the switch, but it seems like it isn't possible for it to fail in this way. On my 89 it will turn the lights on with the car off. On the 92 it only turns the lights in when the key is on and the highlights are on.
  12. So I just picked up a 92 wagon. The parking light switch in the column seems to be broken? Switching it off turn all the running lights off even if the car is running and the headlights are on. On my 89 DL it would just turn the parking lights on with the ignition off. When the switch was off the lights worked like normal, on with the head lights.
  13. I drove ~400 miles today, and just as I was pulling into where I was heading I got a really bad shimmy/shake in the frontend. It pulls the wheel a good 10°, and shakes the whole car if I hold the wheel. I rotated the tires (front to back, backs to opposite side front) and that made no difference. It pulls to the passenger side, and the shake isn't as bad at speed. When I slow down to a stop light it feels like the wheel is bent a few inches out. When i had it jacked up, I didn't have anyone to run it drive so I could see the wheels moving, but there is no play in the wheels. Also I spun them by hand and there isn't a major wobble. All 4 axle boots are fine. Maybe tomarrow I can get someone to run the car with the wheels off the ground.
  14. Could I install a EJ20R into my 89 DL 4 door? I would be installing a Megasquirt on it, and I can get the motor and tranny for cheap.
  15. I did the math, in third gear (1.00) with the stock 3.9 diff, and 21 inch outside diameter tires gives 72 mph at 4500 rpm. I'd have to get it up to 6K+ rpm to hit 100 or slap some 30 inch tires..... From what I've read I just have to swap the thrust disk for a fly wheel + clutch, change out the pedal box, and hook up the clutch cable? I think you need to snip a wire going to the ECU as well. You think with this being a FWD I could just pull the tranny out the back without pulling the motor? Only FWD transmission I've ever pulled was on a 86 Honda.
  16. It says in the manual that 72 is the top, and even with the petal down to the floor I've hit like 75 down hill.
  17. Would it be possible to convert a FWD 89 DL from automatic to a manual? I would like it to at-least get up to highway speeds. The 72 mph top speed sucks, and even then I don't want to run it for a long time reved up that high. Would it be easier to install a 4 speed AT or just swap to a manual?
