  1. Tough call. If your mechanic thinks the lower end is ok, just do the heads. If you think the lower end might be compromised, go with a low mile junk yard engine. The engine with labor shouldn't cost more than 2500. Good luck!
  2. no cel. only idles rough while in gear and at a stop/on the brake
  3. I'm sure the answer to my problem exists somewhere on this forum, but my searches keep leading me nowhere. So here's the deal: Recently purchased a 2004 outback ltd(nice car!). The car seems to lack power when compared to the 2.2 legacy we traded up from. The throttle response simply isn't there. The legacy had a 5 SP and the OB has an a/t. This is my first experience with an a/t in a suby. Also experiencing a rough idle when in gear. Any help or input on this would be greatly appreciated!
  4. Hey everybody. My first suby was a legacy sedan with a 2.2, 5sp and over 200k miles...ran like a champ! I miss that car. Currently own an outback wagon, 2.5, a/t, 75k miles, and not so impressed. I don't know if it's just the tranny difference, but it seems like the 2.5 is a bit sluggish. It's a great car, it just needs some fine tuning! I look forward to learning and sharing with ya'll!
