Fuel filter is new twice over since Ive owned it for 6 months or so. My mechanic thinks its carb related and due to the really cold weather isnt helping.

Yes I know that my carb needs a good cleaning/rebuild but today it stalled on me during accelleration. It just dies and shuts down when Im driving in full accelleration. Just here and there and not all the time. Is my fuel pump slacking or on its way out??

My vote goes for the 78 but I like the gen 2 brats as well. I perfer the gen1 better. It just has that real vintage look. Either way you cant lose.

No you dont have to be a paying member. When you post scroll down to Additional Options and use the Attach Files box. Thats the only way I know to do it.

Well it cost me $1000 to have it overhauld or rebuild.. New rings, seals, water pump. Parts and labor... Im no mechanic so I paid to get things done. I was told that it was a good runner so when I got it and found out it had no compression in 2 of the cylinders and wouldnt drive faster than maybe 25 mph, I wasnt expecting to put to much $ into engine work. But I got oit from Arizona so theres no rust on the body so thats a big plus....

Yes its original and beat up a bit but I have a used replacement for it from a junkyard source thru another member from the board. He got me better rubber trim than what I have. I just havent replaced it yet.

So far I got a few more goodies on my brat now. Finally had the windshield gasket installed and also the rear jumpseats welded in. I put in the rear seatbelts as well as the original bed carpet. Thanks to all who helped me with parts. Still have a few things to do to her before shes totally complete and ready for paint. Heres a pic of the jumpseats...

Try carpartsdiscount.com and type in the year, make and model... They might have what you need there. Also post what you need in parts wanted section. Some people here are part hoarders and might have what you need. Hope this helps. Good luck....

I love the vintage stock look to these gen 1 brats. Check out mine in my photo album under New Brat. I have to update pics since I now have the rear jumpseats installed along with the seatbelts and original bed carpet as well. You going for a stock look or are you going to modify??
