Im pretty sure (95% sure)that they are the same. They swap out with no problem and they seem to be the same design and size. I have a 78 Brat and an 82 Brat. Hope this helps.....

Anybody near northeast Ohio that can help me tow my 78 Brat to my local mechanic. I live in Akron, Oh right next to Akron U. The shop I go to is only a 10-15 minutes away. I had a friend of a friend that was going to help me with this but then he got a DUI so now Im stuck. It needs one head replaced. I have all the parts and the $$$ to get it done but Im no mechanic. Once thats done then this Spring-Summer its getting a new paint job and then its pretty much complete. Anyone out there that close enough to help??????? Thanks.....

I bought strut inserts for my 80 Brat and my mechanic put them in without a problem. Hope this helps.

Well my niehgbor was like I think it was something like ---. So hes not definite on the numbers and letters. The damage isnt too bad just a nice size dent to the right above the blue subaru emblem. Im not going to ivestigate or anything. Im just pissed because I try to keep things nice but other people screw things up on me.

Im so fed up with this. My 80 brat, even though its rather rusty and has a 2 little dents in it already, got hit while parked in my driveway lastnight. My nieghbor saw a jeep turn around on my street and backed into my tailgate and left a dent. He said the guy seemed drunk and he tried to get his plate numbers but he only was able to get 3 of them. Im so tired of this. My last truck, an Isuzu, was hit 2 times while it was parked and my 82 brat got backed into while I was waiting for a parking spot at Walmart. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!!! I dont have to much stuff in my life and I try to cherish the stuff I have like my 2 Brats. One would think that the more they stay in the driveway, the safer they are from damage. WRONG!!!!!! Most any vehicle damage I ever experianced was when my trucks are parked and not on the road......... Im just really pissed.... Sorry for those that had to hear me vent......

Whats the ways you can tow a Brat??? I was thinking if it would be OK to tow it with the front wheels up as long that is out of 4WD. Let the back wheels roll freely. Wouldnt that make sense because they must roll freely when its not in 4WD. OR.... Im Im just totally wrong and it has to be all 4 wheels up or on the ground??? Please anyone that can help. My tranny seams to move, kinda feels like it drops a little when shifting unless I shift very easily and slow like. It seams to have the tranny mount but are there bushings involved?? Maybe mine are worn out?? If so, does anyone have any, and is it easy to install them?????? Im a mechanic idiot so if this all sounds stupid its because Im not sure what Im talking and asking about. Thanks.....

Thats what I plan to do on my 80 brat. I plan on doing the the bed floor and the rear wells with the spray on rubber undercoating and then then some auto paint before I put the bed carpet back down. Is this a good idea?????

My 82 Brat would do that when I first got it. I realise that when I first filled the gas tank to the top, It was leaking. So the fact that my gas tank leaked means it was rusted out somewhere near the top. So rusted pieces in the gas tank will clog up the fuel lines. Have him check out his gas tank to see what shape it might be in, or if it was sitting for a while before he bought it he might want to drain out the old fuel in the tank and use fresh gas and change out his fuel filters. Just a thought of what I had to do and since my gas tank was shot, I found another one thru someone from this site and had it replaced. Thats how I solved my problem. Tommy....

Do you still have the 82 taillight assembley??? Maybe thats my problem. I dont know the history of my Brat. Ive only had it for about 8 months now.

Well the quad style setup was like that when I bought it. All the lights would work fine except fo when my headlights were on the right rear turn signal would just stay on and it wouldnt blink when it was used. Well he, my mechanic, tried fixing this and know the front turn signal stays on and the highbeams light up a little. He did use a multi meter and started tearing into the light switch and ignition switch to try to see why its doing this. Maybe he isnt patient enough. Anyone else have any segestions??????

Heres my problem. All my outer lights (Headlights, highbeams, taillights, blickers etc) dont all work right together on my 82 brat. My mechanic says that my headlight switch and-or my ignition switch might be bad becuase its not sending enough power to all the lights. You see, my 82 Brat front headlights has been switched to the quad-headlights like on the 83-87 brats. It has 2 headlights and 2 more seperate high beam lights. I believe, unless Im wrong, that the 82 Brats had only 2 headlights that would accomidate the headlights and also the highbeams. Will this be why when my lights are turned on that one of my turn signal lights just stays lit and wont blink and also my highbeams glow with little light in them. And when I turn my highbeams on, my tailights and rear plate lights shut off. These are the problems Im having. My question are, do I get an ignition switch and a headlight switch from an 83-87 brat and use them or do I replace the front lights with the 2 headlight configuration like the 82 brats were suppose to be? Please I need any help or answers. PLEASE!!! Thanks...
