here's some pics of mine, mounted on the roof of my 82 Brat. http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo95 I tied all the wires together to all light up at once, and they are tied into my dash lighting circuit.

some 4WD Tercel wagons had 'em, and some of the early 4WD 4Runners I think....

dual 32/36 webers would be too much.... may as well put on my holley 600 cfm.... it's great for high revving applications (gravel pit at WCSS7), but not for slow trail crawling...

EA-81 in trike, not cooling like it should
mcbrat replied to dritchie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
old thread.... -
you will possibly need to "even up" the ea81 though. I had to add a spacer to one side becasue the other side had the spacer for the ASV. it will depend on what year ea81 motor, and what ASV stuff it had on it...

I've gotten nice adjustable ones from NAPA before.....

My son's re-creation of the MW2 Subaru Meet
mcbrat replied to mcbrat's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
he's 8 now, and was with me the whole time.... those of you with keen eyes, will spot 2 tootsie toy Brat's in there... -
the 3-door in the US only was available with the EA82 or EA82T, but was available elsewhere with the 1600. Marnix on the board here used to have one he raced I believe.

Wanted: Hitachi Vacuum Advance units
mcbrat replied to edrach's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ed, you may want to check with Kerry @ RooBuilders. When I got my recurved disty from him, it had a new vac unit on it.... -
the turbo legacy VLSD's use stub shafts with C-clips.

I had a guy put on a extra pipe and glasspack I had laying around, just so I could get it running this past summer. well, where it was welded to the Y pipe, rusted through, and the "new" exhaust was dragging so today it got a new cat-back pipe/muffler, and they fixed up the Y pipe too. she's really nice and quiet now, and closing in on the 60k mark

I run D rings welded onto my custom bumper in the front, and used the shackles that screw in, so I don't have to mess with the pins... and I know they won't come apart, or slip off, if the retainer clip is bad. and I'm usually not looking for spped in the recovery process I'm just using a 3" strap. 15k lbs rating I think.

anybody looking for NOS FF-1 tail lights?
mcbrat replied to mcbrat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
okay. looks like I have: 1 pair of wagon tail lights (no trim) +2 right side wagon tail lights (no trim) ---- 4 wagon tail lights total and 2 right side sedan tail lights.... -
you missed the deadlineby about 20 years
-
you can make one that will at least keep the rain out of the inside of your tailgate, so it doesn't rot away from the inside.... you can take on of the side strips, and make some cuts on the back side where it starts to curve, to make it lay flat... I used the exisisting holes in the side trim, and drilled new holes into the top of the gate, and used long screws. I had to drill new holes in the trim at the ends, to held them down, and I alsobent the edges in so not to have any sharp edges.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gallery/87brat/PDC_0226.JPG looks okay for a beater, off-roader, etc....

I don't have a gen1 sticker set unfortunately.... I still have a set of these left. they went on the front doors of a gen1 wagon. they are the same size as the ski team ones... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=8504&sort=1&cat=772&page=2 as seen here... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/Literature/brochures/1978-ski.jpg and as Noah said, I have a Gen2 ski set, with 2 pieces missing... and a complete set still attached to a wagon

there's lots of dual carb set-up around it seems for the 1600, but no 5 speed 4WD's at all. there was a "Sportsman's Package" in Europe. had a big camper shell, and special graphics, and maybe some interior stuff, but I don't believe it had any performance mods. in Sweden, you could order a Rally spec hatchback
-
the heat riser placement and the mount points will be the biggest things. also, depending on what year ea81, theflanges that bolt to the heads may not be level, since some ea81 had the 1" steel piece in between for the ASV, some had 2. mine usually have none when I run 'em.... the EA82 exhaust I have seen was all level....
-
the Gen2 canopy is about 4" wider total, so 2" at either side... it seems that people can barely give away Gen1 canopys... and Gen2's are a lot harder to find it seems....

1. Assuming you're talking the front... okay. you need to take your struts back out and do a little grinding on the lift block. (I believe the strut tops are like the BYB ones)... anyway, to fix your camber, you need to grind away as much of the inner edge of the lift block, to push the lift block as far towards the engine as it can go. you may need to slot your strut tower holes just a bit to handle a bit more movement. a little helps a lot. this where to grind the ea81 strut tops, but it should help you get the idea.... the other option would be to slot the holes where the strut mounts to the lift block, and slide the top of the strut towards the engine. after some bfh-ing to make a little room __|___ ----|-- looking from the front, this is how the pass. side lift block should look. the bottom strut mounting spots should be closer to the engine.... (flip for drivers side )
