  1. I like the 14" wheels in the second pic....
  2. her you go .... anybody for 14" extreme mud tires.... not sure how they'd handle the weight of a car, but for a off-road only vehicle..... http://www.onlineparts.com/ITP+Mud+Lite+XTR+27x11R-14+(03200151).html http://www.laramp.net/mudlite.htm http://www.yaskyatv.com/prod/tr/mudlt.html and here's the wheels... 4x137 http://traxms.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ITPCSTYPE7_14&Category_Code=ATVProducts_Wheels_ITP_Aluminum_Cseries_14inch
  3. do you have it hooked up to your PCV system? when I had a new weber, it came with a hole in the bottom plate, and a white fitting to tie into it... if you have that, you could be sucking oil in from the PCV system...
  4. I have this same diagram, but with a Revised Feb 15, 1980 date on it. it's out of the final 1400/1600 parts catalog, and it shows only 1 rear diff assembly for both wagon and brat, but as stated before the wagon had the u-joint axles up to May '78. as far as running a LSD in a Gen1, it should work fine. the side stubs still have the same spline count for the rear axles (non-u-joint) as the Gen2/Gen3 rear diffs. so just do the LSD conversion as outlines in the USRM, and then bolt on the mount brackets for the Gen1 (if different) (the Gen2/Gen3 mounts are the same) and install the newer diff with LSD. I am running a Gen1 diff in my lifted '82 Brat....
  5. any locals have any suggestions for a good trail. not a real long one, as I'll have my wife and 7 year old son along. we are gonna be traveling around on 101 after WCSS7.... thanks, Mick
  6. I've had surging issues before, and it was a matter of getting the following things right... timing idle mixture screw setting idle speed setting is this weber new, rebuilt, used? there should only be one vac fitting to worry about. from the weber to the disty....
  7. yeah... we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel... been living with the table and fridge in the living room for the past 2 months... cabinets finally came in Friday, so got most of them installed, but now need to concentrate on getting everything ready... My Brat is close to being ready.... got some idle issues to fix with the new carb, but will be good enough of course in great last minute fashion, my tow rig is losing power steering fluid like it lost a hose!!!!!
  8. we can straighten out the camp site fees and such when we gather. With the ones Vicky reserved, and the 4 I got, we can fit a bunch of people, and divide up the fees accordingly hoping my Brat makes it through WCSS7 okay
  9. park with your drivers door on the downhill side of a hill or cut the floor opening bigger or replace your tranny mounts
  10. did you finally get rid of the Ford hiding in the garage?
  11. I know that plan so what do you have left up there Tim?
  12. the gen1, gen2, and gen3diffs are all interchangeable, so the LSD conversion in the USRM is valid for your Brat. in fact, I'm running a welded Gen1 diff in my 82 Brat right now....
  13. If you click the "Homepage" link in the gray bar above, you will go to the homepage of this site. on the left side, there is a navigation panel, where you will see the subaru's of the 80's link, and a Subaru brat link. pleqse check it out. there is a wealth of information on this site, outside of the message board...... Ultimate Subaru Home Page The Brat Page
  14. that is definitely cool, and a great find..... when you get pics with it fully up, do you mind if I use them for the Brats page?
  15. you'll need a Gen1 CV, as it's the body type (suspension) that determines the axle width....
  16. ha. when I saw the title, I thought to myself... I bet it's an '82 I ended up adding new wiring to my circuits, instead of properly chasing down the culprit.... the '82s seem to be prone to wiring issues.....
  17. probably would be a good place for it, as that forum seems to be garnering more interest lately.... I'll move it....
  18. I ran a weber no problems at all in the winter time in Iowa....
  19. starting in 83 if you had a manual tranny, you still had solid lifters, but AT's came with the hydaulic lifters. there was some talk earlier that '82 may have been a mixed year for valve sizes..... I don't know for sure.... I had a 83 Brat (possibly a late '82 ) motor that had the larger valves... the heads will interchange too, as I put a solid lifter '83 head on a '86 hydro engine, using the '86 rocker assembly and push rods...
  20. I'd spend the money on the Legacy trans.....
  21. I still have this available.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37273
  22. my tach was off like that in my 82 Brat. the needle is just pressed on. I used a brute force method. took off the cluster plastic front to expose the guages, then manually moved the needle to see what the range of motion was. then, because my guage was reading too low by about 1000 rpms, (when shut off, it was below the guage numbers like where a "-1000" would be) I then manually moved the guage/needle to it's maximum. then applied further pressure to rotate the needle on the shaft, being very careful to move it the same distance as the tach was off. now when I shut it off, the tach goes to "0" like it should...
