  1. What one is that? I've never seen your brown hatch in person.... actually, I'd love a picture of the enteire rear quarter, and window with measurements so I can sort of replicate the long hatch decal for around the rear side windows.....
  2. the only ones I have seen with the 2 vac ports was on the pre-81 1600 motor. it will physically fit and work as is in the ea71/ea81s
  3. lifted vehicles aren't meant to go fast around corners. no if ands or buts about it... I put over 40k miles on a 3" lifted 82 wagon with no problems. Took it from Iowa to Washington 2 times. like was said earlier, given the same situation, high speed curve, or knee-jerk reaction to swerve outta the way of something, a lifted vehicle has a greater chance of a rollover than an unlifted identical vehicle.
  4. well, got the new tires mounted today, and put 'em on the wagon tonight. they look really good. too bad the motor is crap! I pulled the motor out and started stripping all the parts off it I put on it.... I pulled the heads to look a little deeper... the bad noise had 2 sources: the connecting rod/piston is loose/broken and there's a lot of knocking going on below the piston, and because it's "loose", the piston is just barely making contact with the head. the outline of the concave part of the head is on the piston, where it's pretty shiny, like it's just slightly touching when at TDC....
  5. I have a set of 4 ea71 aftermarket pistons with rings. size is .030 over (30 over?) $50 plus shipping.
  6. if you have the 80-84 body style (and 85-87 Brats, 85-89 Hatchbacks), then yes, it will work. if you have the 72-79 body style (and 80-81 Brats), it will not work.
  7. here's some pics..... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=637
  8. then make or have made a skid plate to cover up all that stuff some different shots of one here..... http://usmb.net/gallery/album238 it was made from a Gen1 Skid plate. covers the exhaust too.... "bash away" was the quote from the guy who cut/welded mine.....
  9. I've used these guys 3 times now with no problems .... http://www.aactionmovers.com/
  10. Did I hear someone wants a brat?? see one pic here .. http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo65/a0019_15a?full=1 McBrat, keep quiet on this one He want's one given to him... you'd be getting the good end of the deal yours just needs a little steel C Channel and a sold axle outback with a 3.90 ratio and you're set......

    custom c.v's

the front inner cups on the early legacys may interchange, and they are a bit deeper. don't know if anybody has confirmed this yet. the way my lift is set-up, I actually have 1" less of max downtravel, relative to the tranny, so I will never extend as far as a stock set-up would allow, but because of my RX springs, and adjusters all the way up, I am running all the time at "almost extended". I have urethaned tranny mounts too, to limit side to side movement which used to kill my axles even sooner. I've maybe gone about 1000 miles on this set of axles. I have one with a pretty deep clunk in it now. (could be an older axle, not sure) Either I pay to have some customs axles made, or I just deal with replacing them often (my choice so far) The options for custom axles would be to either have a deeper DOJ, and or some sort of custom slip joint shaft....
  12. instead of reversing the weber, you can buy spacers here.... http://www.jameng.com/ I had the same problem on my old mountain grizzly wagon. I used a spacer.
  13. the 86's is missing. the tailgate is barely attached anymore.... I did see a tailgate trim piece on eBay tonight though.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4513257791&category=10076
  14. got a 86 on thursday, and might be getting an 87 in a couple of weeks. 86 has 190k on it and possibly terminal rear rust issues, but runs awesome. will be parting this one out. pics here. 87 only has 58k, but some body dents. supposedly very little rust. will have to wait and see. possible project material.
  15. I have a one piece in my 82 with the 5" lift. I have enough vibration from the motor with the urethane motor and tranny mounts, that I couldn't tell if I had a driveshaft vibration
  16. hmmm. I had my timing at 10 BTDC according to the ea82 stock flywheel marking while MorganM and I were bombing around the hills at Castana.... I'll be dropping a different ea81 into my 87 wagon here shortly, and I can compare to the ea81 ...
  17. I use the marks on the ea82 flywheel on my Brat... I think it depends on what body the flywheel came from.....
  18. Here's more info on stuff I can get: Banners are Polyester lining, vinyl laminated on both sides, with brass grommets. 10 oz. or 13 oz. 2' x 4' up to 4' x 20' Blue, white, black, red, yellow, green. License Plate Blanks avail. in Aluminum or plastic Camo Vinyl. very cool looking, but pricey. Mossy Oak or Adv. Hardwoods. Plastic Sign Blanks: 12"x18" or 24"x18" basic colors avail. and license plate frames shouldn't be a problem....
  19. when Iput my 5 speed clutch kit in, it moved a bunch. way more than 1/8" and it's working fine....
  20. I will check on the frames. what I saw were just the plates themselves....
  21. yes, it's Jerry (Bratsrus). it's actually the stuff you don't see that he does. he modifies the linkage and crossmember, and some other stuff I think. This allows you to use your stock shifters and stock console pieces. last I saw it was $100 but that was a while back.....
  22. just checking interest in these items. plastic license plates magnetic signs banners I can get these items and apply any of my current decal offereings, or many others if if requested.... post here if you have some interest? if I go down this route, they would be available early spring.....
