here are pics of the "pimp" interior.... http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo23/100_0205_001 http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo23/100_0206 http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo23/100_0207 http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo23/100_0208 Trogdor posted those pics a while back.... I have a 87 Wagon with a gray base interior, but it's got the red front seats, and RX seatbelts front and back. back seat is brown, as well as rear cargo carpet. no other carpets on the floors. drivers seat has a nice sheepskin cover. it's a smorgasboard of color -
I ended up just getting a new PS line made with the old fittings. bottom fitting from the EA82 PS line and top fitting from the EA81 PS line. fittings were cut and welded to new stems, and new hose and crimps added... for the PS return line, I just used the stock EA82 PS return line. it's a bit long, but will work fine I'm looking forward to PS again. haven't had it since I sold Mountain Grizzly..... it really won't look much different than how it looked when Caleb had it. (well, the engine bay will be a lot different..... ) I found another pic of it on the revamped HP site... almost forgot. I'm putting on my old brushguard too from my Brat... the fogs will mount to it....

Tim, just a stock rod, but that's a maybe. I got a bracket from Turbone. still unsure how it's gonna work on the ea81 engine. (How did you do yours?) I got mine in fine. I used the bracket from Turbone, and some square tubing to raise the bracket up because of the EGR valve. fit's perfect with the Extended Rod I had.... so I for sure don't need a stock pitching stopper rod... I decided to go carpetless for the winter. put in some deep rubber mats, and got the seats cleaned up and back in. Even the sheepskin cover... Got the stereo amp in and a CB installed. Also got the PS pump put on, and will be trying to get fittings for the PS lines today. Left to do: PS pump belt & hoses Radiator Fan Reset Timing put heater core into coolant loop. swap wheels so I can get my new tires... Install Yakima Rack. Clean rear cargo area Fog Lights

that's if you get lucky with a buy-it-now.... lately seems like they've been going for $45.00+ each!!!
-
mine were loose wheels so no idea what they actually came off of. pre-88. most likely late 70s/early 80's. and I think the chevy wheels are quite a bit thicker steel it took me much longer than 10 minutes per wheel, and that was with a brand spanking new bit, and a big A half inch drill.
-
to get the small backspacing Chevy wheels, you need to find any older full size 4WD Chevy with solid axle front/back. I think Qman's Toyota rims he ran previously were off a '92.... Any 6 lug wheel could be a possibility (they are all 6 on 5.5") .... from any maker. Chevy, Toyota, Mazda, Isuzu, International, Jeep (early wagoneers) etc..... I even saw a Bobcat that had 6 lug wheels.....
-
these Chevy 15" wheels had about 3.5" of backspacing.... maybe 3.75"

ea81 to ea82 axle swap question
mcbrat replied to subiemech85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
not worth the trouble.... with a longer axle, you'd need to make the control arm longer or move the mount out for it, plus it'll mess up your camber. I may have a core axle with torn up boots..... -

will this tranny swap work?
mcbrat replied to snowstormer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
as long as the donor 5 speed isn't from a turbo, the ea81 front axles will work with it. you will not be able to use the ea82 axles in the coupe. trans should bolt up no problem, though not sure if the AT trans mounts are different. should be able to follow the 5 speed swap stuff from the USRM at least for the trans piece. I don't think there's a article covering the pedal box swap... a 4WD conversion would be awesome on that thing! what was blown on the old motor? that was a relatively low mileage hydro lifter motor too..... -

Zap used to have some black painted alloys. it used to be on the wheels page but I took it off.... -
I've got the red "pimp" seats in front right now. they are identical to the RX seats I have, but all cloth. they have the height adjust too. I have had a set of XT seats before, but they reeked of mouse piss!!!! the red ones will do for now. Thinking about getting the covers fixed on my RX seats. I like the black/white checkered flag look

yeah. I have the round eraser type thing. called "Stripe Delete" or something. put it in my cordless drill and erase away. it's a 3M product. I got if for around $30 or so at NAPA. I used it to remove a brat targa stripe! -
Tim, just a stock rod, but that's a maybe. I got a bracket from Turbone. still unsure how it's gonna work on the ea81 engine. (How did you do yours?) looks like I'll be pulling the RX belts our from the back seat. they don't roll properly. the parts look identical (same numbers too), but it keeps locking up. I won't be working on it again until next week sometime. I did get most of the RX seatbelts in. the front went in without issues, and for the back seat belts, I used the RX center belt pieces, and the RX recievers, but had to use the wagon side retracters. had to tweak the hole a little, but all works fine now.... next some removeable carpet pieces. though this is gonna be my daily driver, I still want to have it off-road ready... had thought about putting stock carpet back in, but decided against it....

you could still get a D/R 5 speed in a 3.90 in a SPFI Wagon in '89. I have one in my Brat -

my stations changes often. sometimes country, sometimes pop, somestimes hard... currently its on the hard rock station.... -
alternators and starters will swap. tranny will bolt up to ea81 engine, but the turbo tranny is a 3.70 final ratio rear diffs will also interchange as long as you keep the same ratio as the tranny. seats can be made to fit the ea81 body with a few adapter plates rear discs from the turbo are a direct bolt on upgrade for the ea81s.

you don't have to drill through the frame rail the way I did it. just the bed floor. (but do it from below so it's lined up. the frame rail is "U" shaped, and welded to the bed floor.... it was really easy to do, though the only 3/4" bit I could find needed a half inch drill, so I had to buy one of those too. oh darn....
