  1. do all the 85-94 EA82 wagon/sedan upper door panels (for manual windows) interchange?
  2. the ea81 front struts do not have replaceable cartridges..... I've put a set of these on before. http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/NAPAonline/search_results_product_detail.d2w/report?prrfnbr=28506444&prmenbr=5806&usrcommgrpid=84241837 I also have gotten a set for $35 off ebay too. but there's none out there right now.
  3. I need the core for a 87 GL Wagon (originally carbed ea82) 4wd 5 speed D/R. I've been looking other than the dealer based on past experince with ea81 heater core costs..... I haven't ripped into the dash yet to see which one I actually have, as I've been getting the motor ready. (it's in now, but not fully connected yet) the NAPA part number is NHC6601764 this is from all the crap on-line stuff I've looked through.
  4. my local parts stores are a bit lax on this one.... I have locally: Advance Auto Parts (Parts America) Auto Zone O'Reilly's Napa Napa actually shows the correct one online, but it's $144. the others either don't show one, or show the one for the ea81 body style which won't work for the ea82s.... O'REilly doesn't have any pics, but numbers aren't recognizable.....
  5. sounds like mine. found the 2 up top. small one, and a larger one. the big one below is right above the frame rail on mine... I got the motor in tonight, but still need to hook up the exhaust, install the weber/fuel lines, and figure out the wiring... getting closer....
  6. got it. all set-up good now. got the height adjust seat set too
  7. I bought a spare tap, and ground it down with the bench grinder. piece of cake. didn't even have to clean up the cutters afterward. had to use the coarse wheel though. the fine wheel was too soft as it started to peel on the tap... tapped the hole all the way to the bottom, and bracket snugged up great... as a side note... wow. that head aluminum is soft!!!!
  8. I thought about grinding the tip down, but will go find a spare for that operation or look for a blind tap..... thanks.
  9. I got the holes drilled, and tapped, but because of the space of the tip of the tap, the threads don't go all the way back in.... I drilled the holes to the depth the bolt would need. nervous to go any further. the one hole I already had there was a through hole, so I couldn't measure it. need to find a tap with less "non threading tip" on it I probably have about a 1/2" of threads to work with.....
  10. thanks. I got my new rad, and am just about ready to drop the motor into it.
  11. maybe I should clarify.... which ones come from which section of the firewall? I can put a ea81 back together in my sleep, but this is my first time working on a ea82 body, and there's no motor or intake to speak of, and all emmissions stuff is gone too. it will be getting a ea81 with a weber.
  12. yeah, that pic above is from the ea81 heater core swap I did for the USRM. just that the parts store online info shows the ea81 and ea82 to be the same, but I didn't believe them.... just wanted to verify.... thanks, Mick
  13. which ones are the main fuel line, vent, return hoses. no motor when I got it, so I don't know which lines are which....
  14. does the tilt steering on an ea82 have multiple stop points? mine only locks in the down position?
  15. do they look like these? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/mick-usrm/heatercore/corecompare1.jpg
  16. unless it's been converted to a 5 speed, it would have had a 4 speed stock... look at the floorboards in the cab behind the seats. check underneath too, as they tend to get soft....
  17. for street driving I have an open air filter on top of my weber, but for wheeling where there's gonna be mud, I have a snorkel that has a cone filter on the end, and the filter sits in the spare tire area. http://usmb.net/gallery/album238/PDC_0077 http://usmb.net/gallery/album238/PDC_0080 I can't leave my snorkel on for street driving because at about 3800 RPMs the motor starts to choke out. not enough airflow. it's caused by my adapter and some of the tubing I used (probably the FORD piece )
  18. question: been looking at on-line part sites. have found one place that show the ea81 and ea82's using the same heater core, then found another that showed it changed on 1/87 to a different part. anybody know for sure? looks like I'll be ripping the dash out for this one...
  19. it's originally a carbed 87 with D/R. no AC, but does have PS. no PW either.
  20. maybe just some close-up pics of the coil wiring and what goes where, and what vac line is needed for the climate controls. the weber I rebuilt is a water choke kind, but I'd like to know which wire is for the choke as well. I have chiltons and Haynes, but haven't touched 'em since I got my other FSM's.....
