  1. Here's what I did for a 5" lift..... the rear camber is off a bit and it's a rougher ride. if it's a street mostly vehicle, you will not want to do this.... the one inch spacer block was an idea kicked around by Qman and Zap some time ago to help the camber issue, and axle angle. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/5inchlift.html
  2. unplug your door open chime Shawn had this exact same problem, and that took care of it....
  3. it should be the same as the 86 Brown Brat paint code here... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/brats/bratcolors/bratclrs.html I used to have a page that showed all the codes... not sure where it's at anymore

  5. this is the method I followed with my '82 Brat. I had a custom one piece drive shaft made though for now... http://usmb.net/repair/?CurrentDirectory=FOLDER_3f29b58f50d9b8.15492800/&FileType=Article&File=ARTICLE_3f29b750a92b88.77574552.art and here's what my console looks like http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18377
  6. we will be going through Tifton and Valdosta, GA this is the route... http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?mo=ma&un=m&go=1&1c=Des%20Moines&1g=oSl3wX22UOE%3d&2tabval=address&1l=BTH%2beY%2b30es%3d&2c=Jacksonville&1n=Polk&cl=EN&2g=Ggr00ehbllo%3d&1s=IA&2l=ZJ%2bmdAlbRpE%3d&ct=NA&1v=CITY&2n=Duval&1y=US&1tabval=address&2s=FL&2v=CITY&did=1089327232&2y=US&ovi=1
  7. every 1980 4WD Wagon I've seen have had ea71's. Even the GL's (I have one). and the Dual Range wasn't introduced until '81. (but it could have been swapped out...) The turn signal marker light assemblies were "slightly" different, but not something you could tell unless you are standing right in front of the lights if it's a GL, it would have the centerlamp. the centerlamp door could either have a blue logo, or a black logo, but haven't been able to tell a pattern for how you got which one... (year, models, etc...) can't think of anything else off-hand, and my info provided was pretty much useless
  8. Corky, metallic gold like the Brat targa stripes? Everyone else, keep putting the orders up here. I'm working on a system to lay everything out order-wise, just like the shirt orders were. hang tight....
  9. yes, I can make these for inside the windows too. I just need to reverse the image... all decals available in white or black. they are cut vinyl, so there is no background... I'll get a pic of one on my brat..... I will be updating the first post with payment options soon. thanks, Mick

  12. well, I replaced the pump. after doing some research, the problems/symptoms I was experiencing were common fuel pump failures, so I replaced the pump, with one better suited to the weber, and no regulator. I put a "backup" wire in place with the same pump connector, and ran the wire through my slider and had it hooked to a aux power socket end, just in case. I had the Brat in a 4th of July parade, and wanted to be ready just in case it was the wiring... parade was awesome, even in the rain, and no problems... the yesterday, went to drive it, and it died on me again. I hooked the pump power up to IGN power, and turned the key to RUN. no pump. go underneath, and when I moved the harness it started up... aha! bad wiring! so I've been using my backup now, until I can fix the wiring...

  14. the 15" soob donut spares would work for that
  15. not yet... I'm thinking of staying with the one piece driveline.... tonight Iput some sheet metal over the rust holes, screwed the panels in, then put down some original Brat carpet to cover it I'm all set for the parade saturday morning if it's not raining....
  16. I'm sure I got the seat covers at walmart or k-mart.... but that was some time ago. this is the second vehicle for them I put in a one piece driveshaft for now, planning for the 2 piece, but I don't have the welding skills to put the carrier bearing mounts in... plus it really doesn't look like I would gain much underneath if I did it.... I sent an email or PM about the parts I needed... did you get it?
  17. no, the little "coin tray" that sits under the e-brake lever. that's the only piece. above post talks about the radio console. I did not use Jerry's 5 speed kit. I used the 4 speed tranny mounts, drilled out to fit on the 5 speed. (I did mine so it raised the tranny up a bit on back, but looks like there's enough room to sit it lower) if you've had the mounts off, you will know what I'm talking about. this helped me to retain the stock 5 speed linkage... plus my lift set-up helps too. all the linkage is stock 5 speed linkage for the installation I followed the writeup on the USRM... I wasn't sure what I was gonna do for the consoles, was planning on going all ea82 like yours, but since I only had the one ea82 piece on hand, I played around a bit to see what would fit and that's what I came up with. this way I still keep the ea81 high console, and use all the stock mounting points, etc....
  18. that is a "slant console" that was available in 80, maybe 81. I have seen them on DL and GL's. looking at the brochures, if you got the optional cassette, you got the "normal" console we all know... the slant consoles were available in brown, brown with black facing around the radio piece (like mine), blue, and gray. my 80 GL wagon has a blue one, but the '80 blue is a brighter blue than the 83-84 blue.... I have a plate with my spot light/fan switches covering the hole where the ashtray was, then in the blank area to the left I have a AUX cig lighter type power socket that's always live, unlike the stock one which is only live in the ACC/RUN position.
  19. pic1 pic2 pic3 pic4 I went back to the slant console, and moved my CB up on top of the dash.... I was able to use the "coin tray" part of a 2wd ea81 center console, then I cut out the center of the original ea81 console to allow for the linkage, then I had to cut the ea82 console piece a bit, and just bolted the 2 together. I'm finally all done with fixing/repair from Midwest2
  20. plan to be on the road to Jacksonville FL the 17-18, then back to Iowa the 23-25. no idea what route we are taking. won't be driving a soob either.... let me know who's along the general way there, and I'll see if I can meet up with some of the SE folks...
  21. if the dash in the '80 GLF is blue and uncracked I'd pay good money for it
  22. I had a captive nut give way on my 86 Brat when I lifted it, so I had to drill a hole and put in a new nut from above. the old remanants of the captive weld were enough to hold the nut while I tightened from below
