  1. it's definitely in the front of the engine... haven't had a chance to see what exactly it is though...
  2. figures.... I had a NOS short block shipped to me many years ago, and the packing job was less than stellar. I was looking at it the other day, and I noticed the cam gear has a crack in it...
  3. ea81. to replace the cam gear, do I need to split the block and remove the cam, or can it be replaced with the cam still in the engine?
  4. nope. does it while parked... but I'll verify... I got all my parts today for the clutch and axle swap... still need to get the items needed for the turbo swap though...
  5. No. Doesn't soind like that. It is accompanied by a vibration too that a can vaguely feel thru the shifter.
  6. when I first heard it, it reminded me of a fan motor going bad. labored. kind of a lower pitched, sputtery growl.... if that makes sense.... bad enough that I didn't feel like driving it for my work commute...
  7. 1994 SS stock EJ22T. don't notice it if RPMs are up... but just off idle whether stopped or moving, the noise frequency increases with RPMs, but is not a consistent noise. seems to waver... 170k on stock engine and turbo (assuming it's original) clutch has been starting to slip occasionally. I'm hoping it's the turbo or the clutch, because both are going to be replaced shortly... TD04 (75k) sitting on the shelf waiting... any thoughts...
  8. I'm in for a couple (since you beat me to the shirt )
  9. I put new speakers in yesterday, and finally installed the missing map pocket the paper of the original speakers was brittle and ripped easily, and the foam surround was totally detached and mostly gone from the rears... the surround on the front speakers was still intact. now I need to get some all weather floor mats.
  10. Nice! Glad someone got it as I was torn each time I saw it out there... because my wife likes the Gen1's and I'd like to use my lift kit My '86 I sold was probably the one you inquired about. It sold to a guy in CR Welcome to the Subaru Family!
  11. I always liked this pic a full driveway.... GoKart Long Bed Brat (Finland) Brat/EA Toys pages... http://www.indysworld.com/80s/fun/toys/toys.html http://www.indysworld.com/80s/fun/stompers/stompers.html
  12. you should buy that one from me, fix it, and make it fit yours... those are 15" special purchase wheels Zap had shipped from OZ. the tires I believe were the 27x9.50x15 SSRs...
  13. a better pic... finally found some daylight...
  14. latest. Put on some Cooper CS4 Touring tires (H) on some Kosei K-1 Racing wheels. and my Yakima bars with some SST towers I picked up.. the Y-10 clips were a bit more difficult to fid, but I did find 2 NOS sets...
  15. the front bumper of any 4wd Gen2 from 80-82 would work, and maybe an 83 DL if it had the chrome too, before they all went to the black style....
  16. the full door went back on right after I got back from my last trip. no new projects for me, other than maybe some work/upgrades on the SS. I'm hoping to get the SPFI on the Brat this winter.
  17. Topper on my Brat... but it needs a rear window, and new weather stripping and mounts...

  19. I think the exhaust sounds fine. loud sometimes, but controllable seat covers are doing fine. thought about getting some WRX leather buckets, but the stockers are still good and comfortable for me...
  20. blends in nicely I think.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=127476
  21. you ever check out the subaru's of the 80's site link? there's GEn1 stuff there too... http://www.indysworld.com/80s/
  22. since it's in right front of all the suspension mounting points you really should do some measurements to make sure all of that stuff is still where it's supposed to be... the engine crossmember would have gone a long ways to keeping it in place... but better off to be sure... also, whatever type of repair you do/or don't do, be sure to paint the areas where the damage is, just to seal it, or those spots will become rust areas...
