so how old do you think this thing is?.....
mcbrat replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
WRX huh. I guess it just looked old to me with the serviceable ports and such.... -
actually, the replacement turbos on the EA81T were both water and oil cooled. Oil cooling by itself wasn't enough.... Officially, the ea81T's were introduced as 83 1/2 models....

I used to have a black turbo brat from Sioux Falls... the guy I got it from put a 4/3 BYB lift in it, but there were some issues with the rear shock top mounts bolts breaking off. he also put a 4 spd D/R in it... it was a blast to drive while I had it... it had other rust issues, as you can see the panels I replaced http://usmb.net/gallery/album93/tbnew2 I did some cutting, and put 30x9.50x15 tires on some re-drilled Chevy wheels... with the 4 speed and turbo, it was real easy to spin 'em.... the turbo brats are rare. I'm on my second one now. it's had a fair amount of rust repair done to it before it came to me from the east coast. it's still all stock, and will most likely remain that way until I sell it....

Here is a dumb question from me even lol
mcbrat replied to bajavwnsoobnut's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Baja, do you want widest or tallest? will depend on wheels you are running... I would think a 175/80R13 would give you the best heigh while still keeping you from rubbing the rear trailing arms... I have had gen1 brats with 185/80R13's as well. you can go a bit wider if you go with something like the 4 slot alloys from 1974. they have smaller backspacing, so the tire is pushed out further from the chassis... I ran some BR60-13's (205/60R13) on a set on a 78 Brat for a bit.... -
is it a pull it yourself type of yard? been meaning to get up there sometime... the inclinometer from the tercel will work without anything else. the wires are only for the lighting.....

mcbrat replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you click the ultimatesubaru.org link at the bottom of the page, then go to Subarus of the 80s, and then Helpful Diagrams, the very last one is the heads diagram...... -
Gabe, was it an automatic or 5 speed. I think I remember Corky saying the LSD was only standard on the '89 5 speed GL-10...

I was thinking flywheel as well. if it's turned down too far for the fork movement, or not turned down properly.....

I've gotten 2 like that. 78 Brat had a blown out CV joint, and a coupe where the hub splines were totally chewed up, and the axle just spun inside the hub... (shavings inside the hubcap -

I have been in contact with John B. about doing some new shirts... I have a 80's shirt that I will be replicating for the most part, but it may not be for everyone as it is Brat specific... but we may be able to some sort of run on the "our World IS Flat" shirts.... will definitely get something going again in the first quarter 2004. also, we will ba having another decal offering all this of course will be ran as fundraisers for the board... keep watching the board for more info in January...

Tom, try to clean the battery post connection, and make sure it's tight. also make sure the ground wire from the engine to the body/negative post has all good connections....

outside of the US, there were lots of different designations. The SRX was the rally spec hatchback available in Europe. I have seen a hatchback 1600 GL-5 in a yard.... -
