it was sold to a college freshman in FL who had no idea about the hsitory behind it.....
-
I'm absolutely swamped at work, so no time lookes good for me until 2004 sometime....
-
   Boz, looks like you lost a digit there
-
sorry, tan interior.
-
no on the tranny. with the way that thing was leaking gas, and the fumes, I didn't want to mess with lifting it up or anything... plus the trans didn't shift very well.... Brats Only Parts...... hmmm.... Maybe someday....
-
the 83 parts Brat left today. Items removed prior: drivers side glass ignition lock, matching door locks, glove box lock ignition switch various electrical connectors side step and cover rear seats/frame tailgate guage cluster 86k motor AC compressor (goes with Grizzly Wagon when it sells) t-tops t-top gaskets wind deflectors strap grab handle rear slider tail lights headlight buckets (with 3 original headlights still) front bumper turn signals interior door panels not too bad considering I just wanted the motor for the $200 1 down, 3 more to get rid of...

82-85 had the side steps. starting in 86, no rear seats, so no sidesteps. the passenger side was the only true step. there was just a lookalike cover on the drivers side....

I've got new heater core, rad, etc.... and it's still not enough on high in the winter (well, at least for my wife... I've gone whole Iowa winters without a thermostat before (non soob))...

this site was posted on the Yahoo Brat Club.... http://www.subarubodypanels.com/subaru.html Willing to craft new pieces using old parts as patterns....

maybe my wife just has too much expectation at -30 F

Should I get another sube??
mcbrat replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
cool. I agree with the sentiment above. too many projects can burn you out.... I'll be down to 6 here in the next day or 2 when the crusher picks up the 83 Brat. When I'm done. (from 8 to 3) I'll have just 3 left. 86 Brat (Babied. 86k, 2-3k per year on the high side) 82 Brat (Off-roader, 93k, bash away ) 84 Turbo Brat (Toy. 141k, need something to tinker with, and haven't been able to do anything but drive it a little since I've gotten it....) -
my wife would like to know what kind of weed you're smoking that would make you think Subaru Heaters Rock. in her experience the soob heaters are about as efficient as a rock. :-\

lots of people here have cut 2" off the rear arms, and then they fit... still narrow though, and cover up the seatbelt bolt holes.
-
I'm running that way right now. the 5 1/2" wide was used as the full size spare on the pugs... I asked the tire shop, and they didn't think it's make a difference. I'm running 27x8.50x14's on 'em with no problems...
-
actually, I wont need the pug anymore. I'm keeping the spare one I have for the wagon when I sell it...
-
I like how the ground level is going down, but the Brats get taller Keepers
-
Good call there by mudrat! I did a little testing today on my 82 wagon, and the vac advance was bad. wouldn't hold the vacuum. I tested on some other spare distys, and it held fine. I swapped out the disty, and seems to respond better. tomorrow will tell when I take it out on the road....
-
the chevy rims I had on my first turbo brat I drilled just because I wanted to be able to swap back to stock wheels easily. plus they were just old crappy chevy white spokes....
-
were were moving through stuff continously... so only stopped a few times. and the only other camera I saw was the guy who was usually standing next to me waiting to take a pic.... some of the s%&t I went through was nasty. to the point of after successfully making it through, when I stopped to take some pics (camera not working anymore) my hands/arms were still shaking from the intensity of it.... pucker factor... at one point I thought the drivers side door would get a hole ripped in it from a cut off root.... went off the scale on the inclinometer I had with me...
-
not sure yet if anybody else got any pics of Grizz2. Little one liked most of it, except when I rammed my front end into the hill, and lifted the back end off the ground. he got upset at that point, but was okay afterward when he showed another little boy where we broke the turn signal of course after the first hill climb I couldn't make it up, he kept saying he wanted a jeep so we'd have more power to make it up the hill traitor.....

Gen1 vs. Gen2 Brat Jump seats
mcbrat replied to RallyKeith's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
no differences between gen1/gen2, except there was a slight change in '84, when the tube supports behind the back of the seats became a continuous loop across the back, instead of just ending at the top with a rubber plug. the texture of the seats is slightly different, and the drain hole is a little different. the headrest bars longer for the Gen2's, but the Gen1's have enough extra length that they can be drilled out to work fine.... price depends on supply/demand usually. I've given $30-50 for sets in junkyards but that's pretty rare. have seen 'em go for $250 for a set... shipping them is usually what costs a lot. latest observations from board/eBay: jump seats: $75 to $125 a set. the rear headrests usually go $15-$25 a set. working rear seatbelts around $40 a set. seat frame usually $15-$30 -
Got 82 brat back home, but has hesitations..HELP!

also try running some SeaFoam through the gas tank. I had similar issues with my first 86 Brat. would sputter and slow down on the highway. whole fuel system and intake needed a good cleaning with the SeaFoam, and it worked great after that.... -
turns out my bumper wasn't tweaked at all. it had just shifted at the mounts. I reset everything tonight, replaced the busted turn signal, and installed the jump seats.... all set to go aagain
