looking good!

the following will fit* for fenders: 80-84 wagon, sedan, 2 dr coupe 80-89 hatchback 82-87 Brat *80-82 had antenna on drivers side. 83-84 had antenna on passenger side. *If putting a 80-81 fender on a quad headlight setup, there is a little trimming, but it's all behind the bezel, but you shouldn't have to worry about that.

Center Headlamp 82 Subaru GL
mcbrat replied to Rollerball's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
there should be a black box on the passenger side trut tower. that's th relay, and it's tied into the headlights. the centerlamp will ony work if your headlights are on, and for 82, I think it required high beams to be on too, or maybe it was low.... however, given what you stated about how it does not operate, I would pull the light off the front of the car, and take a look at the wiring where it attaches to the light/motor. the wiring there often breaks off, and makes everything stop working..... -
all the details are in post #1. Price varies on if you return a core or not. well, the first style was a lot lighter. the new stuff I found is better quality marine vinyl and is somewhere inbetween the early and later colors...

I've attempted a few take aparts, but the old plastic doesn't fare well when trying to remove it, so just sticking with the shift boots...
-
I picked up some tan/brown, that is closer to original than the last bunch.... and I got some good blue that will work... still looking for a suitable gray... I found one that was a good color, but the vinyl was way too thick.... still had some black left over, so production on the black ones has started...

well, the offroad "adjustment" for the weber, sets the float level lower, so there's not as much fuel to spill over when at extreme angles. I think that setup would intensify your symptoms...
-
I'm gonna have another run of these made... I still need to get some rings from Bill via Ben...., but I have 8 rings on hand already to get started... what colors would people be wanting...?

Odd... nearly every station in Iowa has Non-Ethanol fuel available... there are some ethanol only, and some that have E85 available too... usually 87 Regular 89 Super (Ethanol) 91 Premium

will a R160 VLSD 3.90 rear diff from a 1991 Legacy fit in my 85gl?
mcbrat replied to 85wagon's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
it shouldn't chunk them up, but they will wear faster... Will also decrease your mileage some, and attract lots of looks if you are making a slow speed tight turn -
yeah. that would be paint code 45. Torreador Red. it fades like that, but polishes back up nicely.... here's what mine looked like... I just sold it... http://www.indysworld.com/vehicles/1982-wagon-mtngrizz/mountaingrizzly.html

this was my "final" parts list... and it was over $6k... no steel or shop labor is included... I didn't track my time on the build, and my buddy didn't track lots of his time when I was helping him... I would expect north of 140 hours of Fab design, build, test fitting, etc....
-
don't worry about the negative feedback. this will be a good build to document... It's your car, do what you want with it... doesn't matter what others or previous owner think about it... I would say your build estimates are right in line for having the fabrication done by a builder... and you'll end up with way better abilities without all the damage and it'll still be your soob....

sounds like a good idea... how wide are the Legacy frame rails?
-
steering build starts at post #89 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92202&page=3 basically, the front soob frame rail was cut away, and a 2x4 section put in place (strait) so I could use the Toyota IFS steering box... but it does limit the width of an engine you can put in... an ea81 body... using the same design on a wider Legacy, should still leave enough room for an EJ.... I'm using an ea81 PS pump, and I grabbed some Toyota fitting at the junkyard and took them along with the soob PS lines, and had custom lines made to go from the soobie pump to the Toy box.... mine was built as low as we could go for 35-36" tires...

you gonna 4-link the front and go full hydro for steering?
