Well, the truck towed the trailer fine... with 4.10 gears, I thought it'd be better on the hills, but it still did okay. 6 mpg baby!

it rained the whole day Saturday, so I didn't put my half door on, and the landowner shut down the trails. WE got to go out on Sunday though. and Friday night if you got there early and didn't have electrical problems . The rock slider saved the door this time. it seriously does not have any dents in it... here's all the pics http://www.indysworld.com/ci4wi/2010/pics/castana-2010.html

I ended up getting there late Friday, and was going to do some night wheeling, but I didn't have any power to my fans or AUX lights... so hung out by the fire... Then Saturday, it rained the entire day, and landowner shut down the trails until Sunday morning, so we hung out, cooked, etc.... Sunday came, and we got a few good hours of wheeling in before heading for home.... http://www.indysworld.com/ci4wi/2010/pics/castana-2010.html

Good day today. got my Brake Controller installed, and got the 7-pin RV socket installed. while I was at it, I ran power back to the rear of the truck for a 12V socket, and the topper dome light. replaced some wiring for the backup lights, but they still don't work... found out I have been running without tail lights/brake lights for a bit, and resolved that issue... all trailer lights work properly, so my RV socket install is good... started the sleeping platform build (quick and dirty version) since I need it for next weekend...

3rd eye door wont close HELP McBrat!
mcbrat replied to DBOZ's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
there are several diagrams out there... but these are the 2 you should be using This is the one with the aftermarker DPDT relay http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/USRM/3rdEye/center-lamp.html this is the one if running just a DPDT toggle switch http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/diagrams/centerlamp-wire.jpg best to take the lamp out of the car while testing... take the connector arm off the door mechanism. I think I may have had to power is seperately at first to get it into the right "phase"... -
well, I had the rope and everything, but getting the SS trim into the gasket was a royal pain in the 4$s. and getting the gasket onto the window was a bit of a challenge too... because it kept popping off... by the time I had it ready to install, the skeeters were everywhere outside, and I missed the window of opportunity for my helper (wife)... so I took it to a glass shop the next morning, and was glad I did. they had trouble with one corner being pretty tight, and I'm sure if it had been a "home install" that it would have been bad.... so it was worth it.... the slider I picked up at a junkyard out of a '70 or '71 for $25. It had purple tint on it then... it took me a bit to get it cleaned up, but it cleaned up great. I believe it to be a factory slider too. the vinyl was a gift my wife had gotten for me... it's the kind with the holes in it, so you can see out... it attaches to the outside of the glass. the picture was actually quite a bit bigger... http://www.clearvuegraphics.com/

lifters, hydraulic or solid?? brat
mcbrat replied to jasthefarmer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
do you have a small rectangular sticker on your valve covers? the hydro ones came with a sticker on to let you know not to adjust... of course, in nearly 20 years, lots could have happened... if you pull a valve cover off, look at where the rocker arms are attached. if hydraulic, there will be a locking tab washer on each, with the tab bent up so you can't adjust the nut....
