when we tested mine, for bump stop fittment, I thought I was good too... but then in real world use, i crunched the fenders...

yeah, if you notice his track width in the spy pics... with as low as it sits, any axle articulation, and he would have been rubbing... I believe he's gonna have to cut more

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any purebred wheelers out there... especially the more extreme you go.... What type of wheeling you're going to do would dictate some of your choices of parts....

pull style headlight switch installed. high beam switch works as stock. found front turn signal lamp harnesses were missing. I had a couple. needed to rebuild them though. getting some marker light bulbs today. put in new hazard flasher, and power to it. changed out weak horn. wired up centerlamp, using aftermarket relay! will post pics later. wired up relay and switch for front fog lights. buttoned up most of the electrical issues... -
looking good. I saw your mud pic in the "lifted" thread... hows it feel to sit taller now? drive good.

yeah, Iowa has personalized plates, and starting in 2009, you can register as an antique without the to/from shows only restriction for displaying the plate.... got to be 25+ years old to qualify. you can also get limited use plates.... http://www.iowadot.gov/time21/vehicle_reg.html

nah, it'll be driveable..... no idea why the PO ripped out the wiring.... tonight: got turn signals working headlights set-up to work. just need old fashion pull switch to turn them on, and the dimmer switch still works. ended up going back to the stock headlight harness... got horn working hazards flasher is missing... took off the bad calipers took off the cruise stalk and switches. the engine bay cruise stuff is long gone anyway.... -
if you want to be where the rest of us are, you'll need to reserve ahead of time... there are some non-reservable ones that are a first come first served basis, but from experience, the campgrounds get pretty full in the summer... We are still early enough that people aren't reserving yet, but they do fill up quickly the closer you get to summer.... you can have multiple people per site (up to 6 and extra vehicles) so you can work something out with another person to share the costs... I have a huge tent, so I just have one site to myself... the site I got was $11/night + tax. so it was like $26 total... in the past, I have reserved several sites together, but had lots of no-shows, so was out the money... so now you have to reserve your own

What Ive been working on lately...

it's probably not the jets... take the air filter off and try it again... with the short air filter it's probably not getting enough air actually.... -
I looked at the Buddy sites. They are small and really close. they are just trying to make a little more money by squeezing in another site... you have to reserve both at same time. and there's not enough of them together... lets go into the lower "lobe". I'm in campsite 105... Friday and Saturday night. not sure which vehicle is going yet. probably the Brat....

there's actually 6 lights on top... they are just the small cheap-o driving lights...

you could cut in half, mill down ends of both pieces on a lathe to match the ID of a tube of similar diameter, press fit in, and then weld.

ugghhh. finished putting together the kids basketball hoop... so I thought I'd do a little work. 1. got the ignition switch wired and installed 2. tightened up the steering column where the old IGN switch was... couple of the bolts were way loose. one was like a half inch out! 3. trying to test out headlights, and discovered some fun stuff... there used to be custom wiring in place for the headlights, horn, and turn signals, but it all had been ripped out, so none of that stuff works... 4. got some louvers today, and will take a bit of modifying to work, but should come together nicely.... still need to remove the front calipers (one is frozen shut) and put on the 4" lift blocks..... -
Too many people had conflicts... Date/location up in the air.... Old Info: June 11-13, 2010 Springbrook State Park Campgrounds, Iowa located in Guthrie County... camping Friday and Saturday night (11,12).... there's no off-road places nearby, but we can find lots of gravel and some grade Bs... Campgrounds: for Google Earth overlay save file ==> http://www.indysworld.com/temp/USMB-campout.kmz let's congregate in the lower lobe of campsites... like 103+ If we are all on the inside of the loop, it'll maker it easier for a central campfire hopefully... go here... http://www.indysworld.com/80s/ under the General Info column, there are 2 links of help for you. 1. The Original Ultimate Subaru Repair Manual - under lightings, there's a couple different writeups. 2. Some Helpful Diagrams - one of the drawings has some wiring info for the center lamp.

the front lip of the hood is bent, and the latch mechanism (in core support) was gone when I got it. my spare hoods are in storage at the moment, and I can always go back to stock if I replace the hood.... since the brakes were an issue with it, I'm putting new ones on all around. fresh calipers/new pads all around. in-laws were down today, and we took down (2) 5-trunk maples in our fence line, cut 'em up to firewood sized chunks, and burned the smaller stuff... plus I started putting together the kids basketball hoop... need to get 300 lbs of sand now so no more progress now for a few days... -

got the other side welded in tonight, and started to take the frozen calipers off the front, and took off the old bumper... captive nuts were spinning on one side. tried rewelding one, but the bolt broke ended up snapping off. the other I couldn't get to but was already starting to pull through the thin sheet metal... so I finished the job. -
looking better all the time

since the torsion bar was broken, and I already had the coilovers from the Red Brat, I just wanted to use them, however, the shock bolts all snapped... so instead of messing with trying to drill out the shock mount bolts, I just made some custom brackets with captive nuts, and welded the new brackets into the wheel wells (1 side so far), so it now accepts the ea82 coilovers... teh rear diff is still okay, thought it appears it's leaked in the past.... the underside is solid, but lots of surface rust... unfortunately, I can't say the same for the rockers
