'82 Brat center light question
mcbrat replied to clunkerbob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
All of the centerlamps had a door/cover over them, but being plastic, were subject to breaking... and a lot of times, the wires to the motor went bad or had issues with the solder joint, so it may have just been taken off at that point. there only 2 screws that hold it to some little side arms. I'm guessing the arms are still there on the sides, but not visible... -
it's laying on it's side (dry cell)... pics would be in my build thread... I didn't really want to put it there, but I didn't want to go into the bed with it, since I already used up some bed for the fuel cell....

I have an AGM battery in the spare tire area on my Brat, solely because the old tray area was cut out for tire clearance and I had to make a custom mount hold down system for it, which was apain, plus I had to cut off some of the tray area too. and extending your arms all he way out at max reach with a 60 lb battery to install or remove it, is less than fun....

yeah, you're battery should be fine. I never had any issues with it in the stock location....

what do you use to remove decal glue residue?

one of the auto parts stores I think.... I still have it, but I couldn't tell you where hardly anything is at in my garage yet.... still learning where I put everything.... -

I actually ended up getting one of the eraser wheels for a drill. worked pretty well. -
My friend Chris (BlueJeep) was the designer/fabricator for my Brat. I've made a snow plow mount for my mower ..... pales in comparison, but I'm learning.... I just broke too much soob stuff and didn't want to wait until I could make it myself (probably never) Scott is making this his own though by going with the pivot suspension in the rear.... BTW Scott, ever ride in a vintage Ford?

problem is, you can take sooby parts only so far... hard to find a "purebred" wheeler. somethings always upgraded

exactly! The original tranny in my Red Brat had one of those fall out the first drain I did. I kept driving it, and over time, the tranny got noisier and "loose" sounding.... especially after wheeling it for the Mudwest 2 event.... hammered the snot out of it in the mud, and driving back 3 hours on the interstate, it just got horrible... when I pulled onto my street, the noise was echoing off the houses I drained the tranny before pulling it for the scrap pile, and 2 more of those "keys" fell out... that's when I did the 5 speed swap

I haven't seen anythign hit CL recently I'm keeping the engine and trans... might try and wedge it into a golf cart Alloys will be sold. might keep the seats.... then again, if it still is in decent shape, I might fix the issues and resell. it would be a good commuter for me as well. good mileage since it's a FWD 5 speed....

right, that pic is from 2001

I saw this one originally back in 2001. had 102k on it. guy didn't drive it that much because of an exhaust/tranny problem... then he hit a deer with it... still ran, but hood and fender were messed up... it's been sitting now for a few years... looks like when the snow finally melts away, it'll be retrieved from the field it sits in.... most likely it's getting parted out... it's a 2wd 5 speed....
-
running that smal of pipe, you'll need to cut into smaller pieces with support T's to limit the flex... does a roof rack count as an "option"
-
it'll be fun to watch the build whatever it is

Mine's hooked up to a GM sender unit in a fuel cell. you need to find a gauge that matches up to the sender electrically, or put in an aftermarket matched set. the Subaru senders are almost complete opposite electrically from the GM units... so I couldn't use my stock gauge...
-
I trimmed the bottom as well for my Brat. I think this was for a mid 90's Imp.

the cheapest way, is to just cut the fenders for bigger tires. the lift alone won't help with ground clearance... I might be getting some used 27x8.50x14 bfg MTs I could sell.

nice. I just got a set of ebrake cables and lever from a '97 4-runner (floor pull like the soobs) I'm going to try and use when I get some different rear axles... or swap to rear discs...

is that the silver coupe? I really should grab the drivers door off that one.....
