well, new (to me) tool box is in place, with 3 new free standing shelving units for my parts tubs.... still need to put the tools away, and do more cleanup, then I'll get some pics.....
-
did a little bit of re-orging to help people get the posts in the right forums....
-
yep. as long as you get the right clutch disk to fit the pressure plate. I believe Jerry uses a washer to space back the starter as well when using the ea81 flywheel...
-
Need to find something bigger to test with....

so far so good. the wheel wells should be trimmed enough, and in the front, the front of the inner wheel wells is cut away to accomodate.....

it drives really nice... in hi-hi, Shawn said it accelerates like his Turbo Brat. for this I put it in Low-Low, but didn't lock in the front hubs. I still need to make some carb linkage adjustments, and do the gas guage and find out why the brake lights are dead.... I can tell already it's gonna be lots of fun....

Shawn stopped by and we took it for a test spin... then when we pulled back into my driveway, thought I'd try the rock there.... rears were still firmly planted on the ground...

It's LB's Twin

it's all in your goal for the vehicle.... the FF-1 restoration in the Historical forumis a good one. hardly any restoration or build is worth it financially, it's all about the process of doing it. I love my Red Brat now, but finanically it didn'tmake sense for a beat up Brat, but my build, as expensive as it was, still was fairly cheap compared to other 4x4 builds of similar capabilities.... I'm just out stimulating the economy -
steering has to be extended no matter what lift size... brake lines most likely would need extended for a 6" lift. I've seen 4" lifts that got by without extending, but varies between vehicles.... won't know until you drop it....

I have actual photos of it at home... hard copy.

SuperBrat has a lime green Brat and TRailer.....
-
I used a Ford temp sensor once to plug the oil sender unit hole after I broke it off I then used the remaining stub, and drilled/tapped it to NPT to use an an adapter....

nice. something about a lifted Gen1 Brat... that's why I'm not so eager to part with my lift kit just yet.....

yeah, I have those same socket organizers. in my old garage, I had a large metal shelf with slanted sides (homebuilt by prev owner), and I put a plywood lid on it... it house all of my socket/ratchet stuff plus lots of other things.... I have a small Waterloo rolling cart that has 3 drawers and a large bottom open are. that had my impact sockets, air tools, and vehicle specific tools.... I have another no-name bottom cart and top chest, but that one will be in my basement like it was in my old house... the local craigslist had a bunch of used high end boxes to choose from... lots of MAC and Snap-On stuff around here, plus I knew other people selling.... will get a pic next week after I get organized with the new box

made the 30 minute trip on interstate just fine. was even able to use 5th gear. Keeping up with traffic in 5th gear at 3500 RPMs.... works for me... but the lockright sure makes a helluva noise when you let off the gas at 70 the bigger rocks at my place I can't get to yet, but here's a little one....

well, here's what I would look at.... 1. how often do you find GL 4wd around here any more.... not very often... 2. even the subaru front wheel drive is awesome for the snow.. my Dad's FWD wagon could go most anywhere.... 3. how are the mechanicals of the new one, compared to Guido. 4. Do you have time to do the conversion? 5. Rust may kill guido in a few years, but if this one is clean, you can stay on top of it, and make it last a long time... I'd get the 2wd, fix up the rear seat and headliner, and sell Guido and his single range. Then save up for a D/R..... and with only 88k and Rust free, it's worth the $450 IMHO.

and I might have enough rocks in my new yard to put together a nice pile to climb on

oooh. thanks. my big test for it will be the last weekend in Sept. I've got 5 weeks basically to finish up the items and adjustments it needs....
-
ok, right rear inner axle seal is replaced, and no more leaks! it's ready for the drive to my new house.... apparently my brake lights don't work either, plus I was having some IGN switch issues, and switched to my backup one

thread copied to for sale forum, then modified this one to be the "show off" thread....

Restored is kinda pushing it... it's had a strip and paint job and new interior put in... that's it. otherwise, it's still original.... top is a replacement top that's 25 years old....
