  1. focus people. the question is about what could cause the early failure... replacing them won't be an issue, since they were just replaced recently.....
  2. there's some other club members he has ridden with and he liked to do so in the past, "because the BRat cou'n't do the hill climbs", or I made him cry trying to keep up with the other rigs
  3. I'm talking to the guy about this one.... http://desmoines.craigslist.org/tls/1296740459.html
  4. actually, I believe we have a 2 speed transfer case as a requirement...
  5. 11 days left for pre-registration savings.... Brent, I think a stock soob with a welded diff will still have issues with clearace....
  6. I'm hoping if I can build a shop to make it tall enough to put a lift in too..... but any other buildings I put up, can't be taller than my house....
  7. Side Question: How many of you have both SAE and Metric Tools, or do you just use one set to cover both...? Thinking 2 smaller tool boxes. one metric, one SAE.....
  8. yeah, my dad said I couldn't get all my stuff in one I definitely need a 40" wide at least....
  9. well, they way my garage is laid out right now, I'm not sure how I want to configure it.... the 3rd stall is where I want to have my Firebird parked, but it's also the stall that has the cabinets, work bench, and existing pegboard.... I'm hoping to build a separate shop so I can be noisy at night and not wake up the wife/kid... this is my first "attached garage".... and I agree with the "bag" statement... I have a "junk yard bag" that has almost anything I'd need at the junkyard.... most of it is duplicates of what was in my main "tool room" at the old garage....
  10. I'm in my new house now, and instead of having tools all over, and some hung on peg boards, I want to consolidate into a big rolling tool box... What do you have, and what do you like or dislike about it... what width?
  11. piece o' cake around here, easy means you don't have to fab anything
  12. when I get to my new house, theres some big rocks I'll crawl up on and take some pics... I have an axle seal leak in the rear. gotta get that figured out.....
  13. not the same. you can make them work, but take a bit of massaging
  14. Did you get them brakes on yet? if not, I could buy them back, as I may be getting something to put them on :-p And if we have something at the new place, everyone has to make a detour to my storage unit and bring up some boxes
  15. as far as underhood lights go, the 70's and 80s early Z cars have a small light under the hood that pulls apart, and has a long wire on it so you can use it where you need. switch is right on the light housing....
  16. do you have a return spring on the throttle? if you swapped on the soob throttle bracket, you could have pulled it too tight and moved the shaft....
  17. chrome version on the far right.... http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/wheels/wheels.html#am13 and almost looks like the steel on the right, second row.... http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/wheels/wheels.html#soob13steels care if I add a pic to my wheels page?
  18. well, I drove it to work today, and got some more fuel... I can still step into the seat like I always did.... I can't do that with my '72 Chevy..... looks like my shakedown run will be in Sept. at Castana, though my new house has some large rocks by the driveway, and I'm gonna be sure and drive up on them and get some pics of the underside... It rides about like my 3/4T 72 Chevy w/lift.... but I need to lower the tire pressures. The soob EA81 PS pump paired with the Toyota IFS steering box works well. Brent, if you really want to test yours out, you should come to the Castana event... you can still do plenty of stuff there without denting it like I did apart from grade B roads, Castan is the most soob friendly of any of the private offroad places....
  19. custom exhaust and brakes are done! gonna drive it to work tomorrow!
  20. very nice. if mine would have looked like that when I got it, I would have kept it stock.....
  21. The spring retainers are doing their jobs there... without them, it goes a LOT further
  22. getting some exhaust.... new Y pipe was designed and tacked up at this point. will be flanged into a few pieces for easy removal....
