I may do that, as I know the ones I had on my Brat were getting a bit worn.... I need to verify full compatibility tonight.... according to some other stuff I read on YotaTech, I should just need to drill out the end of the banjo bolt, and it should work.....

well, I could end up being there in my '72 K20 waiting on some parts again.... -
got the left front corner finished tonight: lockout hub installed backing plate modified 1990 V6 toyota calipers installed wheel spacers put on, and new soft line installed on caliper... finished disassembly of the right side, and started the cleaning process. put final coat of poly on wood trim for house project....

I'm saving it for my son for his first car, so it stays in storage during the winter to keep the rust monster away, and I have a few other vehicles to choose from for a DD. '96 Yukon (Good AC, Tow Rig) '72 Chevy K20 (future tow rig, toy) and for a while, I was driving a '78 Brat until I sold it.....

91k last week.....

if you had an '82 or older, you wouldn't have to worry about that
-
I prefer not to tie it in to the regular compnents, so I can have it on whenever I want
-
should be under the subaru's of the 80s site now.....

I believe I have one I can bring.... if you don't have a weber located, I have a spare manual choke one now (I just don't have the adapter....) you could bring the rear bumper from the parts brat if you want..... -

pics? I have a hard time imagining how the spacer could score the axle......

few more little updates. got the left side FJ40 rotor on, bearings repacked, and new seal. axle nuts torques/locked down... just waiting on my new hub stud kits to finish up the freshly painted lockouts... Then it's just a matter of getting the '90 V6 calipers installed, and fitting the brake lines... right side is apart, but need to remove inner seal and bearings yet, then prep for reinstall.... had to weld nuts onto all the studs this time to get them out. tried the FSM method, and the method in the how to keep your Toyota Truck alive book, to no avail..... slow going due to other project work last night: 1. Installed horn (annoying) on my son's bike 2. Installed new front wheel quick release skewer on my bike, as I snapped the head off Monday! 3. Second coat of Poly on trim for recent house project

the gearing/tires are still gonna bea big issue. I've had plenty of times where I was still getting fuel to my weber and built ea81, but just bogged down because I couldn't keep the tires going. Most of the time, the angles bad for the weber were on downhill runs. up hills are usually fine except for extreme stuff.... since money is an issue,I'd go the SPFI route on the ea81.... you can get the parts cheaper than a weber.... and then you're fine with steepness....

I did a little bit of looking in my sportsman's atlas for dirt roads. there are some in the area, but I don't have anything mapped yet.... still working on my brake upgrade for the front of the BRAT -
Fix Broken Brat Tailgate Handle?
mcbrat replied to renob123's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
there should be little plastic bushings that help keep it in place... they wear out after a while.... I believe they are the same as the ones that hold the door linkages together so should be able to find some in a JY, and put it all back together..... -
I already need to do something for the ea81 pan. either clearance the pan, or bump stop it a bit more.... the only way to clear the EJ would be to un-neccesarily lift the Brat higher and raise my center of gravity.... besides, I've got a built up ea81 with only about 5k miles on it, and it will be getting SPFI later this summer anyway....

Hey Chris! not sure on the rear stud. could've been. I've done the "press" by tightening before, but wasn't sure if that would suffice for this.... ended up cleaning/organizing in the house tonight, and got step "resurfacing" to do tomorrow afternoon... and mowing... provided the rain stops.... should get to the Brat Saturday night... picked up gear oil, another section of fuel line, and grease for the front tonight...

I was moving along good on the brakes, and then I started the rotor/caliper upgrade for the front... PITA. hub studs. one cone washer came out normally. another came out when I doubled up nuts and backed the whole stud out. the other 4 needed a nut welded onto the stud, then backed out... so I just ordered a set of new hub studs for the front.... and seperating the rotor from the hub housing is not nearly as simple as the soobie.... will be working on that tonight...... the rear could be a stickler too, as I have some broken/missing wheel studs, and the replacement process is gonna consume more time/money than I had hoped..... still shooting for the campout, but feel like I'm losing ground now.....

old bumper is for sale locally, but most likely will be modified and kept for a different soob. it's too heavy as is.... it must weigh 125 pounds......
