Greenley, still waiting to finish the deal... or a refund....
-
got my front bumper/guard painted last night, so I can finish putting together the front....
-
Not too bad. there have been lots of stock jeeps there.... the Just Jeeps of Omaha Club usually has a number members at this event.
-
my first time there, I bought along tons of spare parts and tools "just in case" as I drove the Brat there.... I think the only think I busted was a turn signal, and had some paint scrapes from the "Castana Car Wash" trail that is lined with bushes.... most of which I think would've buffed out.... I had a LSD in it that trip, but went to the welded diff after that... One trip MorganM was there with his '88 wagon. He was open in the rear, and made for some intersting times getting the right lines that wouldn't lift up 1 front and 1 rear tire... and that was the first time I ever used my winch, was pulling him up a slippery bank next to a water hole.....

I just posted this thread in the Events section.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=815404#post815404 This is a great place for lifted soobs... you can do lots of stuff here without damage, but most of the trails are narrow and there's lots of brush... -
Date is set now. We still don't have the registration forms online, but will soon.... Last years form is still out there.... the only thing different are all the dates.... http://www.ci4wi.org Here's the Timber Ridge site too... http://www.timberridgeiowa.com/index.html and their old site.... http://www.peelout.net/ Do a search in this forum for Castana. Unfortunately, I neglected to refer to the old thread on this to see what people had for dates. I just pulled one out of the air..... I'll be arriving Friday after work sometime.... -
there are gear calculators out there for when going to larger tires, it gives you the new gears you need to have to get back to the stock "feel" power wise. these calcs do not take into consideration additional weight of the tires. http://www.ramblerman.com/blazer/gearcalc.htm And he's a chart where you can see how you move across the bands when changing sizes... http://www.tellico4x4.com/moreinfo/ratio.htm

Yep. reserved. Feel free. I posted it in the NASIOC Midwest forum 2 years ago, and we had a few NASIOC folks show up at the last show-n-shine, but no campers.... I also posted it on the Nebraska-Subaru board back then... -
Help! My Brat won't let me in or out!
mcbrat replied to elcaminokurt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you're gonna have to try and take off the inside door panels and plastic. roll up the window, and either hook back up the linkage, or try and move it to unlock... the linkage inside will have a bar with a bent end, and it inserts into a small plastic fitting that is pushed through a hole in the other side of the linkage... sounds like it popped out.... -

Not during this campout The Iowa 4WD Association is trying to work with the DNR and state officials to try to find a place to create an ORV park for full size vehicles, and going in the illegal places you posted, does nothing but promote the bad image offroaders already have in some areas.... -

trails.... kind of a strong word for gravel/B roads remember, there's not any public offroad trails for full size vehicles in Iowa. they are all private land.... -
also, ea81 is an interference engine (assuming ea71 is as well) , but since you're running a timing gear you don't have to worry about belts breaking.... But rarely, you can have a gear break, and you'll bent the push rods... ask Subiemech85

yeah, I've been working on my future tow rig ('72 K20) as well... Brat is just sitting in the garage, waiting to be put back together..... luckily most of my spending for the Brat is done... just brake lines and optima left for the most part.....

when you reserve the sites, the have a drop down box for selecting tent, camper, other if it's like the other campgrounds, they give you a tag to put in your car, and they "patrol" to make sure all the people are "legit" -
Maybe a dumb question but........Gen1 EA81 stuff....
mcbrat replied to one eye's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if it's lifted, it should fit okay. if not, you may have some clearancing to do with a BFH... you will also need a custom rear driveshaft -
