  1. well, I was at a shop where one was being worked on (but unsure of the year), and it had the 2.5" lift blocks, and the 2.5" lift block is what the AA 4" lifts say they replace. mine has what looks to be about 1.25" blocks welded to the crossmembers.... as I was thinking about lifting my 97 Outback, the thought of just replacing a 2.5" with a 4" block didn't seem like much of a gain to me, but now, just adding a 4" lift is a different story.....
  2. Next time you are under you outback, can you please check what your factory "lift blocks" look like? At the engine crossmember, and trans crossmember...
  3. I had this problem once... I added some washers to the latches to force them to close tighter... I don't have the hatch anymore to show exactly, but if you look at the mechanism, you can figure out where they need to go....
  4. I'm gonna have custom 3" exhaust the rest of the way back eventually, but not quite ready for it... $$$$$
  5. I've got a new downpipe to put on, and it's long than the stock downpipe, so I need to shorten the long mid pipe a bit, and was wondering if that section is double walled or not?
  6. I attached the calendar as a PDF file in the firstpost....
  7. I drove a 2009 Forester XT today.... very nice... I love the panoramic sunroof too. felt like I was in a convertible... It was the 5 speed AUtomatic with sport shift.... I'm ready to sell my turbo outback to get one... we also drove a 2008 Tribeca, and really liked it as well....
  8. Actually, a couple of years ago, at the SOA main office, there were some huge displays of the old advertisements and such... A company called the History Factory made them up with some high res scans I provided of the original ads.....
  9. ooooh. are there any part numbers on your lift supports? I'm replacing the back window frame in mine, and going to the newer support style. right now I just have a big stick
  10. well, to put the regular 32/36 webers on to a ea81 D/C setup, you need to make some carb adapters that moves the carbs away from each other about an inch each... then figure out the linkage.... of course those would be a bit of overkill like when I had my Holley 600 cfm on my Brat
  11. those are exact;y what I have on my Red Brat.... I absolutely love them on the snow and Ice this winter. vehicle of choice this winter with frozen streets. the tires on the outback just didn't cut it...... (for you Brent, you may need to do some trimming... I should test fit one of mine onto my blue brat after it warms us so we can verify.)
  12. I didn't see Ej engine and harness on the list
  13. the bell housing is the key.... but also the flywheel. I don't know if the ea81 flywheel would mount up to the ea71 crank? if it does not, you'll need to use the ea71 pressure plate and 200mm clutch. I'm guessing that the original clutch woyld have been a 225mm... if you do have to use the smaller pressure plate, then you will need to find the smaller release bearing holder as well. in the US, the 4WD's up through '82 used a smaller holder and smaller release bearing, then upscaled it when moving to the 225mm clutch kit.
  14. there have been a few of those swaps detailed on the board over the last 8 years...... but yeah, probably hard to find....
  15. I had AC in my Mountain Grizzly wagon. it needed to have some custom brackets made to lift the compressor, and get a proper length belt.... but that was 3" lift, and you still have to beat the snot out of the inner fender well area for additional clearance... I think a 4" lift would be doable, if you can make the right brackets for it.... depending on the size tire you're gonna run, maybe 2" is enough. especially if you don't want to do any fender trimming.....
  16. his Instant messaging in his profile shows.... Robbie_terry05@hotmail.com
  17. from this thread... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=70761&highlight=large+valve+heads i ordered the heads from aaron's wrecking, in the seattle area iirc. qman told me to call delta camshafts, who then told me to call these guys. i called them today and they want me to return the large valve head (at my expense, of course:mad:) so they can send me another small valve head. the guy said the two 10mm bolts were discontinued in 82 to make room for the asv flanges and the larger intake heads are just for hydro lifter engines. wtf?? see red...
  18. the clutch type LSDs found in the 80's RXs use the same stub shafts as the open differentials. the Viscous LSDs found on the early Turbo Leg, and later new gen vehicles us a different stub shaft that is solid, and is held in with a c-clip. so basically, any rear diff stub shaft from '78 - '90 should be interchangeable....
  19. you can move the stock toy springs to the front, which would move your front axle forward a bit, then put Ranger spring in the rear. longer than the toys, but really flexi....
  20. that's the right way. how are you connecting to the airbox? how is your pcv valve?
