but most people aren't looking to sell the vehicle once the swap is done.... if you are planning on keeping the vehicle, you already know the history of repairs, etc.... and that should factor into what your car "is worth" when comparaing it to going out and purchasing a different vehicle... where history isn't clearly known... I'd much rather put money into something I already have a trusted history of, then buying another....

Who'd be interested in buying a copy of this?

Need engine advice - What to put in the '75?
mcbrat replied to carfreak85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I think to put an ea81 engine and tranny in, you need to have the engine crossmember from a '81 GL Brat (amd maybe steering rack?) it came with the ea81, and I think there was a difference in how the steering fit due to engine width.... -
put in a 5 speed. or do some custom beating on the shifter....

I think so... Gen1/Stage2 4WD's all had the same 3.90 R160 that the Gen2 and gen3 had... you'd just need to use the stage2 rear axles. maybe trailing arm... If you're not being a purist, then I'd put in a ea81 -
you'll need to either get some fitting adapters, or customize the PS lines, as the fittings are not the same for ea81->ea82 I can't speak to fitting it with SPFI though....

yeah, it appears to be aftermarket. I've never seen it in any accessories catalogues.... -
are you running a 22t engine as well for the swap? the 22t ECU is pretty versatile. that's what I'm running in my 97 OBW with a destroked/turbo'd ej25....

my outback is at 30% all around. unfortunately, Iowa law states front drivers and passengers windows have to let 85% through, so only factory glass tint. nothing added... just wrote out a check for $70 ($15 fine, $5 surcharge, $50 court costs) I tried the "but I just bought it this way from Washington" excuse, that while true, didn't fly

I see 2 things that are probably affecting it... 1. the ribbing in the tube is probably causing a bit too much turbulence. 2. the rectangular box fitted to the carb has "dead areas" that would cause some odd air flows. I had a similar airflow issue with a snorkle set-up on mine, and while mine had a rounded housing to smooth the airflow, it wasn't going into the carb very well ether because of the direction of the hose inlet in relation to the mouth of the carb. take the black box off too, and test it.... if it's running fine then, I'd go to a stock weber tall style filter, or rig up a stock soob one like Skip.... or you can get a PiperCross filter and adapter... I like mine.... http://pipercross.net/competition_carb_px400.asp

Ben, I saw that one on CL, and wondered the same thing.... (about the rear disc brakes) http://desmoines.craigslist.org/car/561217799.html I thought about buying it for the SPFI set-up, but I have no place to put another vehicle at the moment....

I got new adjustable ones from NAPA but that was a few years ago....
