Weber on the 1600.
mcbrat replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Do it. I had a std jetted 32/36 on the 1600 in my Ski Wagon, and it just made the 1600 scream... I also had converted to the newer electronic ea81 disty. then add a MSD-6A Ignition for more fun.... -
it should be a silver Gen2 targa stripe. It's one I got from Ed Dahl.

I've used a S-10 one before with a few mods, but most places I see them they are near $100. I found this at Northern Tools for $30 ! It's the skinnier one they have. it's about 1-1.5" short on the max width each side, but works well. and there was enough left over after cutting to length to do the tailgate.... I used a big carpet knife to cut it...

the Tonneau is meant to go over the jump seats, so there's a bit of extra material at the front..... My only 2 soobs left at the moment... Left: 86 w/3" BYB lift and 205/70R14 tires. (25.3") Right: 82 w/Combo of 4/3 BYB, SJR, and home brew lift parts and 27x9.50x15 SSRs. (27.5")

I notice in the pics that your Electric choke is not hooked up..... should be hooked up to IGN 12V should be able to use the old choke wire.... -
and if it wouldn't have broken withing the first couple of hours of wheeling, I would've had some scroll up and start at post #17 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=657357#post657357 it's all fixed up now though.... This mutt now has a mixture of BYB/Ozified, SJRLift, and other custom lift parts...

PMs sent should be able to get stuff "hooked" up for inspections...

I'm running the SuperCoil (square block one), with a MSD 6A Ignition no complaints here...

No Idea.

here's the failed torsion bar.... since the torsion bar /bushing is no longer helping to hold the end plate in, this is what I did to keep it from sliding out.....

I'll have some video off my phone, but I never got my camera out. Perfect weather too! I broke Friday afternoon (details in the offroad section under my torsion bar/coilover thread), but after I was able to do a fair amount of wheeling, including making a long uphill climb I hadn't been able to before, though I filled the valley with burnt subaru clutch smell I did get to ride Friday evening, and two long rides Saturday in my friends "Jeep"... (full width 1 ton axles, 42" swampers, 305 v8, 700R4, S-10 tcase, ARB. We did a ton of trails that I'm sure I would not have been able to do unassisted with the Brat, and got lots more trails on the GPS map... was very enjoyable.... the night wheeling Saturday night was awesome. never had to stop.... 5 vehicles. "Jeep", Jeep, Jeep, Ranger with SAS, Toyota. I'll post some links to the other guys pics....

well, if your tosion bar is no longer functioning (Twisted in half), and you add rear ea82 coilovers with an additional 3" of lift, you will end up with failure of the torsion bar plate that connects to the trailing arm.... there is a rubber bushing in the torsion plate, that flexes with your suspension, and if there is no longer a torsion bar attached to help hold it in place, and it's flexed 3" further than stock, and you put some extreme pressures on the tire, the rubber bushing will tear out completely, and the plate will bend into an "s" shape, letting your rear wheel flop about a bit and bounce around in the wheel well. as long as you don't have sharp edges on your fenders, you will still be able to drive yourself back to camp I don't have pics of the bent plate, as I took it off, and straightened it, but I will have pics of the additional fix that is needed to complete the swap from a failed torsion bar to coil over

rear engine. here's couple of pics I just took... I'll try to get another with the new cushy seat I put on http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=1056 with the body off, the chassis "just fits" in the bed of my 86 Brat.
