  1. If I was gonna make a mold, I'd do a Gen2 Brat the body fiberglass on the kart is about 3/8" - 1/2" thick...
  2. what size engine do you have? mine has a 3 hp engine on it. I just put a new seat in mine last night (it was the only thing missing when I bought it...) it still has the "mini-cars" sticker on the floor of the chassis I'm gonna let my son drive it around without the body for a while so he gets used to it and doesn't smash it up
  3. looks like I'm creeping out of the low mileage club Before - 2003 - 93k miles add 4 years of time, and spend about $6,000 on replacements/upgrades during those 4 years and you get: Now - 2007 - 100k miles (and no straight body panels)
  4. Scott (subarubrat) did it on his Brat... http://www.subarubrat.com
  5. one nice thing now, is when I pull out from a dead stop, there's no more rear sag/front end lift.... my rear tire carrier now blocks the view behind me....
  6. it'll be a while yet... working on getting to a spot where I can get a diff house first... and a bigger work area...
  7. it may be a while before I get there... got some other lower priority things I need to get done first... also, depends on how long the frame rails last on the Brat. it would appear from my recent inspections while putting in the ea82 rear suspension, that I've done a number on the underbody still solid though. no rust yet...
  8. here's the most recent pics of Scott's Brat... 12" lift
  9. I've been running 2 lifted soobs side by side the last couple of months. both are weberized, but one has more "performance" mods, and they make a world of difference... I would never go back to "stock+weber only" for off-roading... 1982 GL 4WD wagon non-original solid lifter engine weber 32/36 carb with stock jets (140/140 mains) custom hi-flow exhaust larger 225mm flywheel/clutch from '84 '84 hi/lo tranny Accel Super Stock Coil w/new wires 225/70R14 AT tires 1982 GL Brat WINNER hydro engine with solid lifters, built with Delta torque cam weber 32/36 with 155/155 mains 1"+ carb spacer custom hi-flow exhaust (done at same place as wagon, though wagon may have slightly larger exhaust) '89 5 spd D/R with XT6 clutch and spec'd set-up Accel Super Coil with 8mm wires MSD 6A Multi-Spark Ignition Recurved Distributor 27x9.50x15 SSR's I think the Brat weighs in now at about 3000 pounds trail ready, no passengers. wagon is maybe 40lb over stock.... the "seat of the pants" dyno gives the Brat the and for the torque, and hill climb ability while off-roading too....
  10. okay, got the remaining "good" torsion bar semi-disabled. I cut the triangle shaped tray area off the tube, and cut off the adjuster/tensioner so it not nearly as tight anymore.... it still "works", but take a lot longer to engage.... still still in back. I've got a diff drop plate on the way from SJR to fix my axle angles. I currently have the rear axles out, and when I put the diff drop plate in, I'll put in my "long travel" axles...
  11. if you are in the need for any Brat specific parts, let me know. nice to see more Brat owners in the middle of the US
  12. sounds right to me, since your air is thinner, you'd want to have larger air correction sized to provide more volume....
  13. a stock soob would have pretty limited access to the good trails. would definitely incur some underbody and body damage... LSD or welded rear strongly recommended
  14. RIP Hugo. I used to have lots of email contact with him on his turbo Brat project... He was around way back in the early EZ Board days....
  15. yep, 400 option. 330 hp stock, but the limiter on the QJ carb is removed so its identical to the 360 hp 400 that was in the GTO. 400TH tranny. 74k original miles, 2.56 rear end, so it won't but it'll keep going faster and faster.... not sure how far. speedo goes to 160....
  16. other than my 3 soobs, only have these right now (my wife has a 99 Grand Prix)
  17. so, you going to test it at timber ridge?
  18. aaaggghhh, bolt is drilled out, but it still won't budge.... I may end up leaving it as is, and just get a diff drop plate.....
  19. I've also seen some early 80's ford 6 cyl. carbs fitted with a custom adapter. there's nothing out there that will just bolt on and go though.....
  20. I've got a built ea81 right now, that when I first put it in, I ran this on it... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gallery/holley4.jpg it's a Holley 600 cfm (vac secondaries). I had to use a 4->2 bbl adapter plate, modified to fit the weber adapter. it idles great, and if I was running at 2500 rpms all the time, it would just scream (gravel pit )... unfortunately, for any kind of trail running, or plain street driving, it was a pain because you always had to get the revs so high to start from a full stop.... (I still have it and the 4->2 adapter for sale. (no airbox)) I went back the the weber, with larger jets... and some other mods. it totally kicks the crap outta all the others I've ran with webers....
  21. pics here... (should be first 5) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=539&ppuser=3 it's also a good shot of my fender "adjustments"
  22. stock clearance 8" ssr's 27.5" stock tires 23.2" 4.3" diff, divided in half get's me 2.15" additional clearnace due to larger tires... so with the SSR's I should be running at 10.15" clearance to maintain stock axle angle.... so that puts me at just over 3" of suspension lift, with the roll bar, steel bumper, tire carrier, and spare, plus recovery gear box... so after disabling the torsion bar, I can just figure out a mount without the horseshoe bracket.... and I should be okay.... I'm guessing, I just need to remove the
