  5. as you modify something beyond what it was intended to do, there is always increased risk of failure... I just busted the rear suspension in my '82 Brat, and it's only got 99k on it, but it's been beat hard with lift, tires, clocking, and extra weight.... Like Bucky92 said, an unmodified soob with proper maintenance will last and last....
  6. works for me I'll bring the hatch, as Max isn't getting it until Tuesday....
  7. it depends on the type of Gen1 bar, but the last one I did it to, I had to make the back legs 2" shorter....
  8. well 4 years of offroading 3" lift blocks and torsion bar clocked 1 notch and with the weight of the roll bar, rescue equipment, steel bumper, and rear tire carrier with a SSR on it. Rancho Shocks I went outside the other night, and the left side torsion bar had let go. sitting flat on that side.... should I replace torsion bars, or put in ea82 waggy rear coilovers?
  9. we'll actually be at the zoo Sunday, for however long it takes us to get through it.....
  10. 2WD GL '82s had the quad headlights. all others had the large rectangular or large single rounds on either side. 82 was last year for red guage markers.
  11. if it's still in decent shape, I'd try it with the jets already in it. I have a weber that came off a 1.9L Opel, and it ran awesome... I've even upped the jets on it since then...
  12. yeah, it'll come out. I did the same thing, and used a prybar to wedge and work it back and forth, while still in the car
  13. on a 4wd vehicle, if you install them in the 2WD position your wheels look like this \../
  14. With the Datsun Diff, you will still need to get the Soob stub axles.....
  15. it was mighty hot out! But we still had a blazing campfire each night. got rid of lots of leftover wood from recent construction my son had a good time smashing up my vintage Tamiya Brat RC I didn't even get my camera out at the "show"
  16. This is sort of cheating This is user count by age (if an age was entered, and they have more than 10 posts) some of the dates were wrong though, as I don't think NVZeno turned 100 this year.... AGE CountOfUSERNAME 14 1 15 2 16 3 17 14 18 25 19 28 20 39 21 59 22 59 23 59 24 56 25 44 26 51 27 60 28 30 29 39 30 31 31 30 32 40 33 36 34 28 35 22 36 19 37 29 38 15 39 11 40 14 41 18 42 14 43 20 44 6 45 13 46 13 47 7 48 7 49 16 50 9 51 5 52 9 53 7 54 17 55 6 56 5 57 4 58 4 59 2 61 3 62 1 63 3 64 3 66 4 67 4 69 1 71 1 85 1 100 1 101 1 Average Age is 31 years old. 17. has to do with where the lines meet up on the crossmember. on 82's with PS, the engine mount, engine side bolts are a pain to get to....
  18. yeah, the linkage from the steering wheel to the rack is also different....
  19. you will also need the t-stat cover from a PS car, and potentially the engine crossmember... 82 power steering rack/crossmember/lines are different than 83-84 rack/...
  20. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gear-ratios.htm I'm running a '89 D/R 5 speed in my 82 Brat... much happier than when I had the 4 speed.
