  1. it used to be fairly common around here. my parents had it done. it just slows it down... I got a perfect back glass out of a turbo wagon with a big 'ole ziebart decal. the rear door had many rust spots on it......
  2. can't really. they were on a screaming built engine XT6 with welded diffs. http://www.titanstore.com/search/odiam/27

  4. may want to check here as well... http://www.dmbolt.com/
  5. it was there. near the end. I believe he said "High clearance vehicle", of which I would not classify a stock brat as high clearance. higher than most other cars, but still not in the "high" category in my mind....
  6. I used one of these... http://www.yourdictionary.com/images/ahd/jpg/A4contsk.jpg
  7. hatch louvers and a maroon 83-84 rear hatch that's completely rust free.... oh, and a rear seatback without rips/tears....
  8. same here. I think that's the handle on my dad's wagon now....
  9. track width is different, so the axles are not interchangeable length-wise, though you can use the EA82 cups on the ea81 axles for a slightly better angle. you can't widen it either by cutting it, as each side torsion bar slides in from the outside, into the splined section in the middle where the rear height adjuster is...
  10. try and wiggle the switch and see if it comes on. I had the same symptoms, and it was a bad switch.....

  12. the biggest holdup, I believe, is that the 4.11 diffs don't have stubs, so then you'll need to use the legacy or Imp rear axles or some sort of hybrid.... the stubs from the 3.90 VLSD won't work. I think is was SuberDave who tried that one out..... that may only be for the WRX LSD though.....
  13. if you take the carb top off, I'd check to see if there's anything stuck in the emulsion tubes.... I'd reset the idle mixture screw as well. turn it in until the spring is compressed all the way, but don't force it any further. then back it out 3 full turns.... I'd reset your timing to stock, and besure your throttle linkage is set properly... I'd guess you don't have an idle cut-off solenoid since you bought a new kit...
  14. it all depends on terrain and set-up. the place I go the most often, has lots of areas that are too wide for full size vehicles. I usually end up on some quad trails too.... but there's also some things that I can't do, because of the the suspension limitations or the need for a front locker..... with independent suspension, you actually lose ground clearance when your wheels move up... because of the terrain I frequent the most, my best set-up, with the independent suspension, is welded rear, RX springs in front, and suspension adjusted all the way up front and back. nice and stiff because I need to maintain the clearance. I'll never have a ford wheeler, but my next off-road warrior will not be a soob....
  15. actually, the guy that made mine lives in Bradenton FL now.... not sure how far that is, but I can PM you his name.
  16. I used Subarino's pic as a guide (sort of) when this one was built.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1217&cat=539
  17. the stop leak has clogged up your heater core....
  18. it all depends on the terrain you're going to be on.... I'm running 30's, but have lots of other mods to help compensate.... something for you would be to get a 3.90 D/R from a 85-89 Wagon... and if you plan to go bigger, then you will definitely need to look into the t-case swap. Nissan 720 or Sammy divorced t-case could work. lot's better gears available for the sammy t-case....

  20. yep. there's one with a 350 in it near me. mid engine.....
  21. Noah was referring to the 5 d/r speed swap from an ea82... But he was right in that you'll need the interior console pieces... the 5 speed 2wd's had a single piece radio/shifter console in them... and if you do get one of those consoles somewhere, I still have 1 repro 5 speed 2wd shift boot available (in black...) the only other thing I can think of, would be the anti-sway bar. might want to grab that oo, as there were some differences between AT and MT to account for tranny size....
