I've gotten paint from both CarQuest and O'Reilleys. any auto parts store that mixes paint can take the paintcode and make it up, and put it in a can.... paint code 45 does fade pretty good, but yours looks like it's still pretty decent shape. usually $10/can...
-
do you have a pipc of what they look like? they may be the same as the ea81 tranny mounts
-
it'll only be proper if you're using paint code 45
-
the interior door panels may have been good.

Tranny Mounts ... any solid available for EA-81/82?
mcbrat replied to FlyB0y's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that first one looks like a OEM style rubber tranny mount.... -
I already had the SUBARU 4WD piece, and I just added the wording below. can do any wording you like basically.....

which mounts you need will depend on how you did your 5 speed conversion..... there aren't any solid mounts you can buy, but you can take a OEM set that's in good shape, cleaan'em up really well, and pack them full of urethane. I did that, and my axles have been much happier for almost 2 years now..... -
I've always had good luck with the relays from the chain parts stores.... maybe only 1 gone bad in the last 7 years.... I've got a bunch of metal casing relays scavenged from soobs but haven't used 'em yet....

I think some of the body parts were usable, but like Shawn said, it was a repaint, and you never know what might be hiding under there the grill was okay, and the front turn signals in the grill I think were intact.... no fun emblems though

My hatch pics and DrKrazy's sedan!
mcbrat replied to Jerry DeMoss's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the longest I can go is about 37" on one piece (6" wide max) plus my equipment doesn't like long straight lines -
there were definitely no front seats at all in it. I don't even remember the rear seat either... no shifter console. steering wheel had huge cracks in it. the only thing really worth grabbing would be one tail light (same as the ones I sent you Moosey), and maybe the chrome ringed front side marker lights.

looks good.

My alt is melting the conecting wire!! HELP
mcbrat replied to Ryanb's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
check voltage at the alt with it running... if it looks normal, try swapping in a different battery and see what happens... -
so I didn't last long with only 2 soobs :)

no fun tops for me, though I have a few extra sets.... it'll stay this color. I'm gonna put some decals on like the SRX ones, but with different wording... probably in black too, to keep with the blackout theme Max started. -
another important thing, is to have good tranny mounts. I wrecked an axle within 100 miles of installation because of the mounts. I urethaned some and have had no problems since....

those are called "Sport Mags" They were available in the 1974 subaru Accessories Brochure... they gave it a wider stance, and were really light. the valve stem was on the flat inside part of the wheel, and would hit the calipers on the ea81, but as long as you checked the stems occsionally, they were okay. (they were made for the early soobs with drum brakes in front, or the actual inboard brakes....) at one point, there were 3 sets of those wheels here in Des Moines!!! now there's just 2. My set took the Northwet Express to the East.... -

Rest of the pics here.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=865&ppuser=3 it's an 84... came with a set of 15" pug alloys (striped) and a long style pushbar (had to remove pushbar to attach the towbar). Many thanks to LegacyMax for this beast. Eventually, it'll be lifted, but got a few things I need to do to it first.... in some of the pics there's a hood scoop that came with a 84 Brat I bought long ago that was the same color... hmmm.... what to do... what to do.....

The '78 Brat Took Third AGAIN!
mcbrat replied to Seahag1978's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
it will look familiar to some older board members. EdAlexander had it a while back, and sold it, then it ende up for sale in FL, which is I think where Mary got it? -
What kind of lugnuts/washers do I need? (pug)
mcbrat replied to Bratwerst's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you have there the less sought after 504 pugs steels(70's) later 504's were "normal". they take a special lugnut that had an oblong washer that centered the wheel. sorry, there are no aftermarket options for them. you will have to find a set of 504 centering washer lugnuts. I haven't seen a set on the board for quite some time. you may wat to sneak onto a pug forum and try to get a set....
