  2. Replace the alternator bearings and clean / rebuild the alternator. Cheap and easy preventative measure. Also replace brushes. Great time to paint or polish the alt case.
  3. This is only a test fit. Opinions and other comments are appreciated.
  4. 1 - Remove both fans. 2 - Air ratchet, and 6 inch extension with 6 sided socket NOT 12 sided as they tend to round off nuts/bolts.
  5. suggestion put turbo parts onto rebuilt long block, sounds like fun

  8. Fixed a few days ago. Drilled out captive nut ( whose threads were stripped ) Got 60 mm , 12-1.25 bolt and lock washer. Repurposed old lug nut to hold it all together. Btw I LOVE air tools !!!
  9. So I recently replaced my passenger inner and outer bearings, seals and cv axle due to cv axle noise. Soon after I put 185/80/13 tires on, there were junk yard $10 tires. Now EVERYTIME i start out i make a burout / tire skreech sound from the driver's (left) tire. It did happen be fore the repairs. but only when going up hill from stop, mostly turning right. Question: Do you guys running the 15" wheels and big tires have this problem? tyia
  10. What we all need to calculate is the "Cost per mile driven" Lets say we average 25 mpg at $4.00 per gal tank is about 15 gallons therefore $60.00 per fillup gives approximately 360 miles 360 miles / 60.00 dollars = 6 miles per dollar driven (on average) Then we have to see the difference that the higher Octane fuel gives us in out mpg, Then we can SEE the actual cost of gas. ........ So let us all collect data and truly see which octane gives us the most Value.
  11. the crank shaft should have metal guides (discs) which align the belts.
  12. So I removed the strut rod to allow for easier access to the cv-axle replacement. After tighten the 3 bolt that hold the strut rod mount plat to the frame / uni-body There is now a clank and i can see the plate moving when I bounce the car. It clank whenever I drive forward and / or when i hit a bump. Feels like the bolt stripped the nut off the sheet metal, INSIDE the uni-body. Question: Are there captive bolts inside the sheet metal? How screwed am I at a quick fix to this ? Will I have to cut open the sheet metal and weld up a bolt and bracket to fix this ? Video of movement and a little sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcVGhVMevRs
